Advice needed about acne cleanser....

My son was on Accutane a few years ago, but is now breaking out just a bit, with some redness.

I am looking for a gentle acne cleanser in a pump or a bar....any suggestions?

Thanks!

I really liked the Clinique Acne Solutions products when I was having adult acne in my 30s. You may also want to look into Paula's Choice. Her Clear line is for acne. While I haven't used any of those, I do use some of her other products and she makes excellent products at moderate prices.

Please consider the Proactiv system. It is not overpriced and I know so many success stories about it, especially for teens. The key is to stick to it and keep using it to prevent. I used it for several years and finally my skin calmed down, hormones, etc.

I still suffer with acne going through a terrible breakout right now. When it flares likes this I buy a bar of African Black Soap. It calms the skin and helps dry the acne. I even lather it on and wear it as mask for 15 minutes. It really works without stripping the skin.

Paula's Choice is discontinuing my favorite cleanser so I am on the lookout for a new gentle cleanser for acne prone skin myself. I was just reading all the great reviews for the cleanser from acne dot org and think I am going to give it a try. It appears to be ph balanced, gentle, and super cheap. 16 oz for $11!

Re: Advice needed about acne cleanser....

Two things helped me concur my acne, Proactiv and Serious Skin Care Glycolic Cleaner.  Of the two, I way prefer the SSC from the other shopping channel.  I got mine in a kit of acne things including the pink stuff you put on your acne the night before it is magically reduces it, if not make it go away.  THey both worked well, but the Proactiv I could only use at night because it is so drying.  The SSC is much gentler but more effective.

SSC does have the continuously clear line, but I felt it would be too harsh for my skin. I don't see a set similar to the one I got, but it was all glycolic products except for the Dry Lo spot treatment. Good luck.

Miss Sugar Kane, which of Paula's cleansers are they discontinuing?  I also recommend Paula's Choice.  Have been using her products since 1995.  You may call customer service and discuss your son's issues and ask for free samples.  Her products are guaranteed for 60 days.  I believe that today is the last day for free shipping on any of her products.  She doesn have an acne trial kit available for about $9.

They are discontinuing the Hydralight line and the Moisture Boost line to replace with the Calm line. I am devastated as I have been using the Hydralight line for 15 years.

Cetaphil can't be beat!  My son is now on accutane and that is what his Dermatolgist recommends.
