Hi, my name is SurferWife and I’m addicted to beauty products. The first step is admitting the addiction. I feel so much better now. Time for some Frosted Flakes.

Re: Addicted to Beauty Products

I have an addition to beauty products, too!  But I think I am doing much better now after completely going cold turkey during Lent last year.  I decided not to buy ANY beauty prodcuts during Lent.  At first it was really hard, but after a while you get used to not buying any beauty product. And it also make me realize how much I have, since I was never NEEDED to buy anything during my NO-BUY months.  So, now I am just doing LOW BUY instead of buying too much like before.

Re: Addicted to Beauty Products

I know what you mean. These boards and YouTube make me want to buy and try out new products all the time. Before the Internet, I used to fall prey to the occasional T.V. commercial or ad in a magazine but we're exposed to so much more nowadays, there's so much more to resist!

Cold turkey works with me when I become addicted.  LOL.  There are certain stores I stay away from.

Re: Addicted to Beauty Products

I'm not addicted! Not addicted. I can quit anytime I want. Really I can.

Sure.

And then I can shrivel up and appear unwell and exhausted and vaguely like a hairless cat. But that's me.

Re: Addicted to Beauty Products

I don't see it as an addiction.  I see an addiction as something that is harmful.  I love my skincare and makeup and it's beneficial to me and can improve my skin.  The only way I could see it as harmful is if someone is spending money on beauty products that they need to feed, cloth and care for their family.
