Activated Charcoal as cleanser

Has anyone used activated charcoal with your skin cleanser?  I've read about it in a couple articles and I guess you mix a bit in with your facial cleanser.  Said to really help with large pores and breakouts.  Also saw that some people use it as a teeth whitener.  Looks gross, but they say it works.

Re: Activated Charcoal as cleanser

I have used it!  It is very cleansing.  You definitely feel squeeky clean after.  The only issue I had is that it is challenging to get out of large pores.  I have to use my clarisonic a couple of times to get the pores clean.  I don't use it daily because it really strips away everything and I'm afraid it will make my skin dry.  But I use it every couple of weeks or so and really like the way it feels.  I think products penetrate better after using it.

Hope this helps.

Re: Activated Charcoal as cleanser

I have Origins Active Charcoal Mask. I have not used it for a while since I have been having a lot of problems with my face since Feb.

I was wondering how Beekman's new Charocal Scrub would be. I'm not going to try it until I get my face back on track.

@catmama I use Glamglow and it has worked wonders on my blackheads. After the third time using it I could see a great difference.

Re: Activated Charcoal as cleanser

I know the natural face scrub that I use has it. I like it, it doesn't smell, and I think it really does help.  Mine is a powder by Ora's Amazing Herbal so if you aren't careful it does make a small mess but I just use it in the shower.

Suzanne Somers also has a charcoal product, it may be a mask.
