GR is my primary source for Wen. They have all the core formulas (except for BGT) in 16 ounce bottles, 613 and seasonals. They also have stylers and ReMoist. They don't carry oils, mousse or sizes over 16 ounces.

The GR rep recommended Wen Fig for me and it's my staple. They also gave me samples (12 ounce bottles) of TT and Lav. TT is a staple as well. The CC and 613 formulas from GR and Q work the same for me. I like the GR version of ReMoist better than Q's.

The problem that disgruntled customers have with GR is the Easy Pay and Auto Delivery. Customers have the option of customizing their kits, canceling with no question, or setting their deliveries to come once every 5 months, they forget that they checked the big box agreeing to auto delivery and easy pay.

Members get crazy discounts. Everything from 20% coupons to free shipping for life. They go out of their way to keep their customers happy.

I agree with Chynna; I don't think non-members can order.

Honny, do you order online or by looking at the 2014 GR WEN catalog? The catalog lists non-member prices. You can't get into the website unless you are a member, so for website ordering you would be correct. A non-member would have to order on the phone.

I think QVC made Chaz Dean, not Guthy Rencker. I absolutely refuse to order anything from an infomercial. Uncertain security, slow delivery and difficulty getting refunds. If a new product is any good at all it will be picked up by one of the shopping channels.

I was not implying that the Guthy-Renker infomercials made WEN a hit. I know marketing well enough to get it that same as what happened with Bare Escentuals nearly 20 years ago the impact of being on QVC is what drives the demand for the brand. My point is Guthy Renker is Chaz's business partner and they provided the financial ($$$$) backing which enabled him to have the manufacturing capacity to be able to provide QVC with the necessary inventory to be able to present on the network.

In business language WEN may have been created by Chaz and he's definitely the front man and head honcho, but Guthy Renker is the deep pockets behind the brand. This is no different than the way Estee Lauder is the deep pockets behind their zillion brands.

Yep, I order online. Members get the full scale of what Wen products are offered.

When I first looked into Wen a few years ago, I inquired about ordering as a non-member. I wanted to try the product before committing to AD. I was told that wasn't an option.

I called GR and asked if I could place an order as a non-member. They said no.

I just saw this on the Chaz Dean Wen Facebook Account. It is a complaint about GR and someone from the Chaz Dean Salon responded.

A woman wrote:

Just want to put out there how extremely disappointed i am with this company...they make it extremely diffucult to cancel their product and when I finally put a stop on payments through my credit card, the product stops coming although they still send invoices in the mail asking for payment. So just to end this relationship, payment was made, even though a product was not received. Today I received a letter from a collection agency for a bill I paid, probably twice. They claim it was not sent even though I have an confirmation number and the money was taken out of my bank....interesting. Total dislike for this product, the company, and their customer service!!!

The response received was as follows

WEN by Chaz DeanHi Richelle, unfortunately we cannot access your account through the Chaz Dean Studio as it is with Guthy Renker. Please fill out a complaint form here, http://www.wenhaircare.com/lp/cet/ so their corporate customer service can get involved. ~ Jillian

I heard this complaint too many times.

Why in the world would anyone want to buy a product that is altered and different than what Chaz uses in his salon and on the QVC website. I would never purchase from GR.

Why wouldn't the person that had a conversation with me tell me that if I joined the GR Club, I could get Fig. Nothing was ever mentioned about membership and I wouldn't do it.

Dog, can you post the link to where you found that complaint? I didn't see it.

The company, as far as I know, doesn't post complaints; only positive feedback on their FB pages.

That sounds like something that came from PO'd Consumers website. The same site where someone said Wen made their braces turn colors.

Also, why are you saying the GR formulas are altered? They come from and/or are approved by Chaz and his chemists. If the GR (or QVC) products were substandard, they wouldn't be on the market.

It's on facebook. Wen by Chaz Dean.
https://www.facebook.com/wenbychazdean

It appears on the right side under the area that says, Invite your friends. This is not from a Consumer Website.

Regardingyour last response about GR Formulas. These are different than the formulas sold at th Chaz Dean Studio and QVC. I rather use the formulas that Chaz uses on his clients and from QVC.

The comment is still there...the page is "WEN by Chaz Dean." GR has fairly earned their terrible reputation, which doesn't mean a lot of people don't also have great experiences with them. But it's definitely a caveat emptor situation (like anything else nowadays.) And saying the formulas are altered is just a fact. Whether they are substandard or not is probably up to individual interpretation...Some people are willing to assume a quality difference based on the reputation of the company and the lower price point.

Do you wonder why Chaz doesn't sell the GR version in his studio or at QVC?
