ANYONE HAVE EYE MAKEUP PARTICLE STUCK INSIDE EYE?

[ Edited ]

Has anyone else had eye makeup particles get into the eyelid and stay there?  I've use Josie Maran's Argan Oil-based Mascara many times in the past 6 months.  She always claims that it's 'pure and safe enough, even lash-conditioning' enough to "SLEEP IN IT -- IN FACT I ENCOURAGE YOU TO LEAVE IT ON ALL NIGHT TO CONDITION YOUR EYELASHES, AFTER ALL THEY'RE HAIR!"

So, several times I was too tired to remove all my eye makeup before going to sleep (I always at least use a face wipe for foundation).  Lately (past month) I've felt something "extra" stuck inside my upper left eyelid that won't come out with Eye Washes or Eyedrops.  It's driving me nuts; now the eye is leaking and blurring my vision.  i'm going to see the Doctor about it.

I'm curious if anyone in these forums have had a similar experience and discovered it resulted from using or failing to remove  a certain type or brand of Eye Makeup?

(I'm not assuming that Josie's Mascara is the cause).

Probably the black "stuff" in the inner of your eye is eye makeup that didn't get washed off.  Most of my eye makeup doesn't come off because I use a  eye primer for that problem.

Certain moisturizers and liquid foundations migrate into my eyes and settle onto my hard contact lenses.  Yuck.  I have to remove my lenses because they become blurred like having a coating of Vaseline on them.  I wanted lasik surgery, but was not a good candidate.

Re: ANYONE HAVE EYE MAKEUP TRAVEL INTO EYE?

I cut back with wearing mascara and eyeliners at the lash line. I was heavy into tight-lining. Several months ago I had a fairly large milia which developed in my upper lash line. It was very visible and it was causing my eyelashes to separate. I had to go to the doctor to have it removed. I asked the doc what could have caused it and the doc said it was possibly from over-rubbing my eyes when I was trying to remove makeup. So now I'm very gently with that and I'm not wearing much eye makeup these days.

@SilleeMee  I really appreciate your sharing of a similar problem and possible causes.  I don't use slick products close to my eyes but I sometimes line the waterline, and usually wear mascara.  I'm super gentle when removing eye makeup, but still it's tough to get it ALL off.   I just can't go out without some eye makeup  -- I'll bet I have one of those milia, so off to the eye Dr. I go.....it could be caused by any one of 100 'invaders' though, even a speck of dust.  Was it awful to have the milia removed? Ick.

No, it wasn't bad at all. Just felt like a quick pinprick then it was over. My eyelid was a wee bit swollen and little red where that mila was taken out. For about a week I could see a tiny spot in my lash line where there were no lashes, but that was very temporary and now all is good.Woman Happy

@SilleeMee  Thanks much for sharing your experience with me, I'm so touchy when medical professionals have fingers or instruments anywhere around my face (some PTSD following an accident injury).  If this 'thing' doesn't go away I'll get it checked out.  I'm going to stop lining the inside eyelids and mascara on just the mid-to-ends of lashes.  And - step up my new UD Shadows!!

Thanks to all who wrote helpful replies!

Re: ANYONE HAVE EYE MAKEUP TRAVEL INTO EYE?

@roxxy1  I've had the same 'goop' from travelling concealer and eye creams.  It's awful -- I was disgusted when I checked my eyes in the magnifying mirror (oh, so much in my eyes that shouldn't be there!)  I'd used a serum-type concealer but no more; now I carefully pat on Josie Maran's new Vibrancy concealer which is thicker (yet natural looking) - THE BEST STUFF.  Eye creams/serums now get placed only in orbital bone area;  there's such a thing as overkill with even the lightest products, but I have very dark inner eye corners to conceal.  I'll NEVER use a cleanser like Purity to rub all over my eyes -- makes me cringe to watch those demo's.

@BSurLife65, what you describe in you opening post doesn't sound like a milium because you say that's inside your eye or eyelid.

I did have one on on top of my eyelid near the lash line. Drove me nuts. I had an opthalmologist remove it.

Yours sounds more like a sty or something that got in there.
