yes @Trixx our local nordstrom has great service when it comes to that.

i had no idea she was discussing a specific counter....TRISH MCEVOY. LOL.....i thought @Shanus was mentioning some new type of service at nordstrom.

some of the counters at our nordstrom do not have specific reps for the company working. sometimes it is just a rep from another counter who comes over to help you. it really depends on the amount of business a particular counter gets as to how well staffed it is by their "specialists."

@sunshine45, It's true that the amount of business at a counter often determines how well it's staffed, but the stores which carry Trish McEvoy are among the higher echelon of US luxury retailers and fine service is one of the few things they still have going for them in the struggling world of brick and mortar. The McEvoy counter attracts customers who are willing to pay her prices, and generally are accustomed to receiving superior service.  For that reason most of them usually have what they consider to be among their "best reps" stationed at that counter even if they are fill-ins.

Re: ANGRY W/ NORDSTROM'S TRISH SERVICE

@Shanus  I honestly don't think this is a Nordstrom card issue as I only have the debit card and that was a recent acquisition; I still think it comes down to who is working the counter (or not). Then again, they are getting rid of it and they've made so many changes to their Customer Service that perhaps it is. Geez, if so....that REALLY stinks.

@Shanus  You and I have been Trish lovers for a LONG time. Over the decades, this is what I learned regarding Trish and Nordstrom:

her account is not a large one. Nor is Chantecaille or ReVive or Perricone or ANY brand that isn't owned by Estee Lauder, Inc. They rarely have store representation (a counter) and if they do, they MIGHT have a counter manager but usually it's a part-timer and the turn over is horrible because they don't have the business to keep their job. (think about that for awhile and it becomes crystal clear as to why it is what it is).

The ONLY time I EVER had updates on Trish events, sales, etc was when the counter at Towson Town Centre had the most amazing counter manager- now retired. She knew Trish from WAY back in the day and the events at the store were amazing. WHen she left, everything went down-hill.

I don't have this problem now that I use a Personal Shopper/Beauty Adviser at my local Nordstrom. No matter WHAT the line, she contacts me. She doesn't make a commission so all the lines love her (she's not taking their sales) and she negotiates deals for samples, GWP's and things that a customer could not do. She can also pull anything I want from anywhere in the store as well as search at other stores. She has an assistant as well who works for the customer when things get crazy.

I get why you're ticked off. There really are NO excuses for it. CS is NOT what it used to be but then again, Nordstrom is NOT what it used to be.  *sigh*

@SahmIam  Thanks for your input. I'm pretty picky about my clothing & would not need a personal shopper. Can you have a just a Beauty Advisor. If I had local NM, I'd buy my Trish there in. NY minute. Their CS means something to them.

@sunshine45, You obviously have solid sales associates working the Trish McEvoy counters at the local Nordstrom's in your area.  What you describe is how the system of giving your contact info to a sales associate is suposed to work.  I would suspect the same is true with other brands at your local stores.  Shanus' issue seems out of character with Nordstrom.  @Shanus, I would indeed contact the manager of the cosmetic department and the store's general manager to inform them of your disappointment with the customer service at the counter.  These special events, and the counter reps reaching out to existing customers to come in for them is one way a store markets business in the highly competitive world of beauty.  You can just as easily buy your Trish direct from her website, or Neiman-Marcus,Saks, or HSN, but you have chosen Nordstrom.  I think letting the managers know could help change things for you and other customers going forward.

Thanks for your suggestions and all personnel were contacted the first time it happened. Apology phone calls came in and then it went back down hill. I'd purchase online, but especially w/ cosmetics, colors are never truly represented.

@Shanus  YES!! I don't use mine for clothes either UNLESS I see something online/catalog and want it pulled for me to try (including shoes). Her "office" is in the beauty department (that's where we first met) and she's fantastic. I've been told all Nordstroms offer this service. I love it because I don't have to wander the store and search for stuff; she does all the legwork and I come in, relax and shop. The extra goodies are a perk too.

I've told her what lines I use, what I'm interested in. She texts me and I text back. No pressure, no wasted time... it's great.

OMG!  Shame on your local Nordstrom.  Sure, none of the retailers are as service oriented as in years past, but your situation seems very out of character with my Nordstrom experiences.  I get it about wanting to purchase color cosmetics in-store, but it is a shame you must do so in order to shop Trish McEvoy at a location which you feel has treated you poorly.  I suppose much too often we urban city dwellers take for granted that everyone has our options ... Nordstrom irks you, then you walk down the street to Saks or Neimans to buy it and so on.  We even have Blue Mercury here which sells Trish McEvoy. Blue Mercury is a very service-oriented shopping experience because they not only have the department stores as competition, but as a beauty boutique, they need to attract customers from the giant beauty boutiques Sephora and Ulta.

@Shanus,   You could go to Trish's website and send an email about disappointed you are in the service received at that store.  It's worth a try.

Re: ANGRY W/ NORDSTROM'S TRISH SERVICE

I think it might have something to do with the Nordstrom credit card.  I have one and the more I spend there the more notifications I get about anything.  They have different "levels" you achieve.  I don't shop there as much as I used because I think the quality of merchandise and customer service has definitely declined since the younger generation has taken over.  I say that and I still managed to drop a few hundred at the current sale!
