This is exactly what my derm did. She has all sorts of lasers in the office for all sorts of things, but for the brown spot on my jaw that was getting on my nerves she just used liquid nitrogen.
I would probably have spent that $100 (total cost) over six months of buying some cream to fade it. Like @CatsyCline , it made a scab which fell off in about a week. Then it was red for a few more weeks because I'm Casper white and everything leaves a red mark on my skin. That was about 5 months ago and it's now just a memory.
I was already using sunscreen 365 days out of the year because of a personal and family history of skin cancer. So who knows what caused my brown spot.

The medical term for purple spots on skin is purpura and that is not the same as a bruise. Purpura happens as a result of platelet dysfunction unrelated to trauma.

Well all I have to go by is my parents who both spent hour and HOURS in the sun and both have age spots. As you know I don't "do" sunlight BUT maybe I'm not old enough yet for them to have developed. I guess it's a waiting game with me.

This is what I remember my Mom having on her hands and arms. The slightest "bang" into anything not even much at all and she would get more of these. I do not look forward to developing this. On net they call it things like Actinic Purpura and say it is due to sun damage. But she never went outside LOL! And never tanned in her life! I know these are not age spots like dark brown liver spots but these on "fair" skin will leave a discoloration even after it fades for months and months. Some times never going away.

The corner of my bed frame likes to bite my knee every time I get up in the middle of the night to pee. I've hit that dang corner so many times that now I have a permanent dark spot from repeated bruising there. It's a form of hyperpigmentation caused from skin trauma. It fades but then the corner of my bed gets me again and it starts all over again! LOL! I give up.

@SilleeMee Could you fasten some padding over that corner or would it show? Just a thought....

I've tried to figure out how I could do that. But what I'm actually dealing with is a metal platform frame and I would have to glue padding, or whatever, on it to make it soft on the corner. I think my brain has gotten use to that corner b/c I haven't got any new bruises lately. On auto-pilot in the middle of the night to steer me clear away from the corner. LOL!

Oh no, you've ruined it for me
First, that skin looks like it needs a LOT of hydration inside and out. Next, I thought since I'm more vampire than human, I'd likely avoid the age spots/sun spots and crinkly skin. I can never unsee that image ![]()
