@ShanusOOH!  That is SO chic!  My hair won't do that because I have natural curl close to my scalp.  My only control is pulling it back.

@Shanus

Congrats on the "new you."  I know you'll love it and after a few weeks you'll wonder why you waited so long!  Smiley Happy  That's how I responded after I took the plunge.

I had my hair cut short in mid June and love it.  She cut my bangs a little shorter than I wanted but my hair grows fast.  It's layered similar to yours, and I can wear it several different ways.   Brushed back, sideways, spikey, smooth, whatever style I choose.  That's what is so great about short hair.  Smiley Happy

I'm going to check out the Paul Mitchell Blonde shampoo.  Currently, I use mostly Nick Chavez products and, on occasion, the purple shampoo, Biosilk silver lights.  Considering it's purple it really brings out the silver and shine in my hair.

So, enjoy your new color and style and collect all the compliments.  I'm always surprised at how many strangers compliment my hair color and style.  Just watch it happen.  Smiley Happy

@Shanus  I wore my hair super short for years and loved it but... I was also 6' 1 and 130 pounds so my face had high cut cheekbones and a sharp jawline.

Now....not so much. My stylist and I agree that long hair balances out my larger size (though it's shrinking, I'm not down that low just yet). Your cut just made me think how much I loved having a short and funky look especially as it shows off earrings so well!

Some day, my friend... some day. : )

GREAT look!

@sonechkogreat idea!  In fact, a few days ago I went to Sally's and bought a light lavender.  It will wash out after a couple of weeks, I have a hiatus from work and thought it would be fun to take a comb and put a subtle wash of lavender on my attempt at  natural looking blonde hair.  The box is still sitting in the bathroom....but your ideas  have given me new courage.  Thanks for the pictures...t.he blue with the grey and the cut just works together.

@Shanus

I've read this and the other thread you started about letting your hair go gray or white as the case may be and the steps it's taken you to get there and I think your hair looks awesome! I appreciate that you are letting us know what went into your decision and how it's been done step by step.

@Shanus

What a great look for you.

It reminds of the actress Barbara Barrie's signature look. (she is now nearing 90 and still wears it)

The style and color is very nice.  I'd love a short no fuss hairdo but on me it would be flat against my head.  I could never achieve the same spikey look on my own.

Me either! It's that sticky grooming paste you get at the drugstore. When hair is dry, add just a tiny bit, rub between your hands and mess your hair up in the opposite direction you want it to end up. That gives it the volume and lift. Then w/ a tiny bit more rubbed on the ends of your fingers, go through your hair & loosely place it where you want it. Hit it lightly w/ hairspray!!!

That's exactly how she taught me to do it....the real trick is to be sure you rub the hair opposite the way it grows (or where you want it to end up). If part is on right, rub in /rough up  the paste to from left to right on top....in the back, go from neckline up to top of head, etc. Amazing how much volume you can get!!!

My hair is coarse, thick & natural curly. She pulled it straight w/ round brush first...took a second, since only about 2"-3" length.
