I think that's probably how most of us are.

@teganslaw I think you should Google how Google comes up with the answers for questions.

Oh I am so not photogenic! My grandson is one of those people that can look totally relaxed and totally himself when he smiles for a photo  He's been that way since he was a baby.

@Texasmouse

My story exactly my fellow Texan.  My husband tells me 30 times a day how beautiful or cute I am. When I go ahead of makeup on I'm cute and look like a little girl but beautiful with makeup. Of course he's my husband and he loves me and he's always been very flattering so I have to take what he says with a grain of salt. Besides, Love is Blind.

Re: A question I've been wanting to ask

@monicakm  Do you think maybe you spend too much time thinking about how you look and how you are perceived you look, and whether you can tell how you are perceived by others?  You have posted about this at least a couple of times, and admit to have been thinking about this for a while.

I wouldn't spend that much time thinking about it.  I do try to look my best for the time that I am willing to invest in that, and I don't worry because I did the best I could taking into account other things I like to spend my time on.  I am pretty sure I won't know how I am perceived by others in terms of looks, and that's OK.

What does it matter if there is a gap between how we think we look and others think we look?  I am sure some people will think I look OK, and others won't.  Yes there probably is  gap because not everybody thinks the same or likes the same things.  Like I said, I don't worry about it.  I did my best.  I had time for other things.  It's OK.

You obviously love make-up, and I enjoy reading your posts because more often than not they will contain something I don't know.  So I learn something.  And maybe I will try some of the things.

So you are doing something that I and others enjoy.  You can feel pretty good about that!

I think the phrase "It's All About the Lighting" will probably be on my tombstone. Or "Lighting is Everything" because it is and I say it so often. It can make or break any setting. Incandescent and pink lighting is flattering in my opinion. I refused to buy any money saving LED lights for our canned lighting till the technology came around where they could almost mimic incandescent.

But @Dazlin, that wasn't the question.

@NYCLatinaMe

I definitely care how I look when I leave the house. My grandmother did my mother did and I do and I don't have any shame in that whatsoever.  I don't believe I've posed this question before and yes I have been thinking about posing the question here but I know how topics can go south real quick and that's the last thing I want.

It might not mean a hill of beans to anyone about how one perceives they look compared to what others see. It's just something that crossed my brain and I wanted to just put it out there to others in the beauty community to get their opinions.

I'm not worried. This was just an innocent question to a group of like-minded ladies.  I feel confident and put together and know I did my best with what I've got. I'm not trying to one up anybody I'm just trying to be the best version of myself. Not everyone cares about that and that's obvious to me every time I leave the house.  I'm an inquisitive person @NYCLatinaMe. Trust me when I tell you I have a lot more questions I'd like to ask this group of ladies but won't.

Thank you thank you thank you for the nice compliment.

From women I have seen out in public I would say thats true.

But I also have seen women (not as many) that look good.

Re: A question I've been wanting to ask

These days I believe I have no illusions about what I look like!  I am a 72 year old woman  with gray hair, who is slightly overweight, and who definitely looks her age.  My whole life up until my middle 60's I always looked much younger than my age and was always told so.  I believe I look exactly what and where I am in life, and that others see me the same way.
