You're welcome, @Imaoldhippie.  I hope you like it.  Which shade did you choose?

@Imaoldhippie I use the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten powder foundation in the regular (not glowy) and I find it gives me a nice, satin glow without looking too shiny.

I hope this is the type of product you're looking for.

Charlotte Tilbury (don't stop reading yet!) has a product called Hollywood Flawless Filter.  Here is Sephora's description...

What it is:
A complexion booster that blurs, smooths, and illuminates for a real-life filter effect. Customize your glow with four ways to apply.

Elf (claims) to have a dupe for it.  Tilbury's is $49.  Elf is $14 on their website and WM.

@monicakm Aren't these similar to Fenty Drop L'it?

Does one normally wear a setting powder when using these or do you think it cancels out the glow?

@Icegoddess

Probably, a little anyway.  I have the Fenty Lit but only used it a couple of times in colder weather.  From what I've read and seen on YT, the Elf product actually covers more (like a foundation) than the C.Tilbury product.

@monicakm I have the Fenty product too and sometimes add a bit to my foundation.  Might try it without the setting powder.

@Effie54   Thanks. @Imaoldhippie  Keep in mind that models usually have flawless skin. Sometimes highlight, especially brushed or applied all over the face shows every little flaw, pores, etc.

If you'd like an all over slightly highlighted look, I'd start out slowly with just a veil of finely milled powder with a bit of shine. I like Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder. It comes in various shades and has a subtle shine.

Rare Beauty by Fenty also has a good glowing powder. Of course, you can look at Hourglass, too.

I think the most natural look if you want "the glow" is to apply it in a foundation...a powder can look cakey.

I suggest trying the drugstore first to see if you like the look. L'Oreal has a Lumi one, Revlon Illuminance Skin Caring Foundation are a few to check.

If you do find that a "glow product" is too much for you, try mixing a bit with a moisturizer or just a moisturizer with just a hint of "sparkle". NYX has Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator (Amazon if you can't find at drugstore) can be used sparingly under or over any foundation or alone. Also Tarte makes several...Tarte Brighter Days Highlighting Moisturizer that I found at Target. Physicians Formula Glow Liquid Highlighter is a good one.

IMHO, a highlighter powder or liquid should not be applied all over the face. It can give a greasy or sweaty look. Rather it should be applied on the tops of cheeks, maybe under or over the brows for a lifted eye look, right above the lip (cupid's bow). Being subtle is the key as we age.

***@Imaoldhippie Be sure to look in a magnifying mirror after you use this highlighter (powder or liquiid). It can accentuate pores and any flaws you didn't even know you had.

Hope this helps. Let us all know how it goes.

I am using the L'Oréal lumi glowtion. I started last week and have gotten several compliments on my different makeup look. I bought mine at Ulta for 15.00. I put it on u see my foundation. It is supposed to be a dupe for the Drunk Elephant bronzing drops. I matched my shade instead of going darker.

I also use the Lumi Glotion, and it is excellent. Amazon has it for $11.59. I am a believer that makeup does not need to be complicated.

@Shanus ................Thanks for the great information.  I ordered some inexpensive highlighter from Amazon and I will get it Saturday.  I will try it Sunday when I "do" my face for church.

When I apply my makeup my face seems dull and lifeless.  I want something that will give me a muted glow.  I have white hair and very fair skin, Welsh & Irish descent.  I have found a good eyebrow pencil and mascara and a pale pink blush that looks good, but I need a little glow.

Again thank you, I appreciate your help.
