@Shanus wrote:@Carmie Same here...very dark hair and white roots after 2 weeks. I don't feel old or look older with my silver hair. No way could I be a blonde (you look great, @homedecor1 ), but highlights or blonde hair would never work with my complexion.
I think I may look younger without the very dark hair.

i certainly don't think I look "fabulous". I think I look attractive for my age. Not to burst anyone's bubble but a few weeks ago a WaWa cashier also told me that the beverage I was buying was on the house. Clearly this is a WaWa customer service thing, not a you look so young you should get a free coffee thing. Lol. I do think the original poster's hair is a pretty color of blonde. We all have to do what makes us the most comfortable.

That's just an excuse to keep dyeing your hair 😉That being said, yes you may look paler or more overall beige. If and when you do decide to have grey hair you will need to adjust your makeup, clothing and accessories colors to bring vibrance to your look. and of course no hair dresser is going to encourage you to stop coloring. They depend on expensive salon services.
I disagree. My sister who is only fourteen months younger than I am, let her hair go gray and she looks awful. I was shocked when I saw her after three years. We both have extremely fair skin and naturally dark hair.
I don't feel I need an excuse to have my hair colored but I definitely will continue as long as possible. Seeing my sister was a wake-up call for me.

@smoochy I don't care about adjusting my makeup or my clothing so gray hair will be somewhat more flattering. I just want to wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and see a halo of light around my face. I cannot achieve it with my mousy light brown hair sprinkled with strands of gray. Being blonde (I do it completely myself with Loreal 25 minutes every six weeks) means I don't need anything to "liven" me up. I don't need makeup or special colors of clothing either. I wear what I want. Nor do I need to go to the hairdresser every few weeks. I am frequently asked when I go out where I go for highlights. LOL

I colored my hair when I was in my 40's and every two weeks is about right. My hair grows super fast.
My two sisters..one older and one younger and my younger brother all have white hair. My hair is more silver and I still have A ton of black hair mixed in. I have a black skunk stripe in front.
I do admit, that if I could wear a blonde shade, I would go for it. Unfortunally, I can't. I am a true winter and need cool shades. I get a lot of compliments on my hair color and I am often asked where I get it colored.
I think everyone knows what makes them comfortable and whatever they decide is perfect.

@OKPrincess Don't feel badly. We obviously have people here who don't know what they're talking about and prefer an artificial look.

I came into this world with red hair, and will do my best to leave this world with red hair.

@Kachina624 And we have have some who think they know it all and proceed to hold forth as the ultimate authority on hair color. This is a personal decision. It's up to the individual to decide what looks best on her. I would never attempt to convince another person that coloring one's hair was the right decision for her. It's the right thing for me but it's not for everyone.

I have a close friend from high school that had the most beautiful, coppery, red hair. I was always fascinated by it and just loved the color.
Back in the early 80's I had my hairdresser do a henna color, trying to get some red into my light brown, dark blond hair.
What can I say, it just did not work for me. No it didn't..........🤣😳🤣😳🤣😳🤣😳
I stick with a shade or two lighter than my natural color now.😉😉😉

really wanted to try going "natural" so i've let my hair go since July. i look so washed out. it's depressing! my skin tone is warm and the gray makes me look sallow. i got some new sweaters and it just hit me why i don't look nice in them. the gray is NOT fllattering!
i think i'll look for some haircolor this week. the line i was using discontinued two blonde shades so i am stuck with a Neutral tint which is too flat on it's own. Ash is not good either.
