A Review of the Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder

I mentioned that I purchased this exfoliating powder from Boscia during a thread on Tatcha. It arrived yesterday and I used it for the first time today.

Details: $36 for 2.11 oz @ Sephora

It is marketed as a gentle yet effective exfoliating powder that produces brighter, smoother skin. It is meant to be mixed with water to form a paste. How much water you use relates directly to how intense an exfoliation paste is created.

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup} I give it a definite thumbs-up! It was a little tricky to get the right amount of powder the first time out, but now I will know for the next time. When the powder is applied to a wet face, a light, soft, creamy white lotion-type product is created. It had no discernible scent or fragrance. The feel on the skin was very spa-like and luxurious. It rinsed off easily and left my skin looking and feeling very soft. The serum and moisturizer I applied afterwards absorbed quickly and easily.

I have combo/oily skin. Using the powder alone was a tad drying on my cheeks. The directions say that for added hydration, instead of mixing with water, the powder may be mixed with the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil.

I used it in the morning. I have not used it with a full face of MU. I would probably cleanse the MU off first with a cleansing wipe and then use the powder.

I'm very pleased with it and will keep it. I may even try mixing it with JM argan oil (which is the only oil I have).

Re: A Review of the Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder

From the Sephora site:

What it is:
A thorough yet gentle exfoliating powder that produces smoother, brighter skin.

What it is formulated to do:
Gentle enough for everyday use and for all skin types, Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder removes debris and oil from pores and skin’s surface while providing long-term deep-hydration and antiaging benefits. The grains of this powder are dried and then coated in Tsubaki Oil. Once activated with water, Tsubaki Oil is released to completely veil and treat the skin, creating a silky-smooth, brighter complexion.

What else you need to know:
This dermatologist tested product is free of preservatives, artificial fragrances, color, gluten, and ethanol alcohol. Japanese exfoliating powders have been used for hundreds of years for smooth, youthful-looking complexions. Traditionally Adzuki Beans/Rice Bran are mixed with Tsubaki Oil—boscia's innovation.

Ingredients:

-Adzuki Beans: Remove dead skin cells and support natural circulation.
-Rice Bran Powder: Gently exfoliates and helps absorb debris from pores; dissolves excess oil.
-Tsubaki Oil: Firms, hydrates, and protects against free-radical damage; supports natural collagen production; contains omegas 6 and 9 which deeply penetrate the skin for hydration and antiaging benefits.
-Jojoba Leaf and Willowherb: Nourish the skin and calm redness and irritation.

Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran, Phasealus Angularis Seed Powder, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Epilobium Angustifolium Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Extract, Water.

Re: A Review of the Boscia Tsubaki Oil-Infused Exfoliating Powder

The Tatcha rice powder feels rich and creamy too, spa-like sensation, but any grains pretty much dissolve with the water so I don't view it as an exfoliator at all. There ARE some enzyme-y ingredients, but it's on the face for such a short time not sure how effective that is.

I'm kind of paying more attention to Boscia stuff, now (like I don't have TOO many other lines to think about) -- only good reviews. Someone posted she preferred Boscia's cleansing oil to Tatcha's, so just thought I'd pass that along if anyone is in the market for a cleansing oil. It's GOT to be less expensive than Tatcha! :-). I just can't see myself "leaving" Tatcha, but you never know.

Love Boscia's cleansing oil. I've been using it for over two years. Great review on the powder, Irish! Thanks for posting it.
