Re: 60's ladies and all ages come and chat for May....

Hello, Friends!

Happy Friday. It's hard to believe another week is done. This was a busy week for me...two doctor appointments. I don't like two in one week. (Truthfully, I don't like any!!) My knee doctor was unhappy again with my knee.....so he is trying something new to see if it will heal. MY PCP and DH thought it looked like it might be healing yesterday.....I don't know...I don't even look at it. I also have terrible dry skin on my leg, so I am to use "Lachydrin" on it. I ordered it from Amazon. He also wants me to elevate my leg as much as possible....again, he suggested lying on the floor and putting my leg up on the couch. And, again, I asked him how I was supposed to get up off the floor? Send in a crane, I suppose!

It doesn't look like I will be going to our summer home for Memorial Day. The doctor said if I go I should sit in the back seat with the dogs, and put my leg up on the front seat. Now, can you imagine that? I'll pass......We got caught in a traffic jam on the way home yesterday, and that extra 45 minutes in the car made my leg very sore, so I can just imagine sitting for two hours.

Bobbisue - As always, I thank you for your concern, and prayers. DH goes to his pulmonary doctor on Tuesday.....always a worry.

Kat - It isn't fair that they make you wait two weeks....and, we always imagine the worst. Here's hoping for the best for you! By the way, I grow grape tomatoes on our deck in a pot every year, and they do fine....we always have so many, I don't know what to do with them all. I ordered mine from Burpee this year. I think you will be pleased if you grow them.

h2be - I'm so glad you are back! As always, I thank you for your prayers and concerns. I'm about ready to give up. I just hope I am able to face what is coming for me. We haven't come up with a name for us that cannot sleep. I was thinking "Pillow Talk" since you mentioned your pillow, but I think there was a movie by that name, wasn't there? I think we can think of something more original. Maybe Helen will have some ideas too.

Mochahoney - I had tkr on both knees. I was doing fine....never felt better. Then, I went to the dentist, and he cleaned my teeth without pre-medicating. That night, I ran a temperature of 105, and next day, was in the hospital having my knee removed because I had a strept infection from the cleaning. That was six years ago, and nothing has been the same with that knee. I've had three infections in that knee......I just don't know when it is going to end. Good luck on your garden.....DH doesn't put ours in until the week before Memorial Day.

Puddles - You are such an inspiration!

Helen - Well, I did not make it to the dollar store! After sitting in traffic, I just couldn't do it. DS is going down to NC with a friend from law school and his family. They have a little girl who is 3, and I wanted to send a bag of "goodies" for her. I did stop at the drug store and got her some sand molds, a big bucket and shovel, a beach ball, and of course some "bubbles". Also got her a giant coloring book with crayons....that should help keep her busy. I did pretty well for not "shopping", didn't I?

Shoelady - As always, my thoughts are with you. As I told Kat, it isn't fair that they make us wait.....DH always tells me that it is important to us, but not to them. I think I have to agree with him. Be strong if you can.....and know we are all praying. And, remember what I always tell my boys...."after the bad times, comes the good"!

Cindy - Hope all is well with you. I hope you didn't have any of those terrible storms.

Well, I am going to go. DH is going to see the kids tomorrow. He wants to check our place and make sure nothing was damaged over the winter. I think I am going to make some brownies to send for the kids. I did make ham salad tonight with the Easter ham...it turned out delicious. I will send them some. But, I think they will like brownies better!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Re: 60's ladies and all ages come and chat for May....

Mochahoney - The most difficult part is having difficulty reading. This came on rather sudden for me. The dr. is in his office every other week. It's a real pain because I need a referral to see any specialists. I hope your friend will be okay.

Spammom - If I buy the grape tomato plant do I replant in a clay pot? I have never grown any vegetables before. I know, tomato is a fruit but it's a veg. to me! ha!

Good Morning to all you ladies. I have been on the search for sun all week. I hope today is the day. Enjoy your day.

Mochahoney, I had trouble with my retina too. A blood vessel broke and caused a gray distortion in the center of my vision. I had to go to a retina specialist and get shots in my eye for months. I still see him every few months. t was hard for me to read too. I hope you get to the specialist soon.

Spammom, I hope your knee and leg heal soon. You are in my prayers.

It is only 52 here right now. Going up to 60 today. Cloudy.

Have a good Sat. ladies.

Hi!

I am praying for all who need this right now... have been reading up on all of you... sometimes I worry even tho I am not readily able to post. I am thinking of all of you. You have always been such an important and positive part of my life. Wishing everyone better and improving health.

SPAMMOM: I think they will really love the ham salad and be grateful for it! As well as the brownies!

Helen: Hopefully you are feeling better now after your run-in with the flu.

Shorelady: prayers are being offered up for you and will continue to be.

Bobbisue: Hopefully you are doing OK on this weekend.

Mocahoney: the storms caused such bad damage.

Katcat: have never heard of inflamed retina... is it painful? Hoping your eyes heal whichever route you decide on

puddles: it is very good to ""see"" you posting!

About me: Lexi went on her first car trip to a wedding this weekend. She apparently is a little baby social butterfly... she giggled loudly during the toast! DH went to the ER after DMIL had an apparent fall at the home. She is fine... nothing damaged.

Hi, Bobbisue... thanks for reminding me... you did/do have some eye difficulties... hope you are doing OK. It sounds a little chilly there! We started off the day with a temp of 57 and the house felt chilly this am. It is warming up now.

Re: 60's ladies and all ages come and chat for May....

Good Saturday afternoon!

DH left for the mountains early this morning, so it is just Geno, Lucy, and me for the day. My leg is very sore, so I am going to spend the afternoon watching my favorite cooking shows. It is going to be difficult....I am not used to sitting!!

KatCat1 - I was telling DH about your plans to grow grape tomatoes this year. He said to remind you to find a big pot that has holes in the bottom for drainage. (You never want water sitting in the bottom of your pot.) I have a huge pot I use for tomatoes I am growing on the deck. Take the tomato out of the small pot it comes in being careful not to ruin the roots. You will need to fill your big pot with soil, and plant the tomato into that soil. Water it after you plant it, and I usually water it every day unless it rains. You will be able to tell if the soil is dry, and needs watering. I think you will be fine, and I hope I have explained what you need to do. You will have cherry (or grape) tomatoes by the bushel!! When you shop, you can look for tomatoes called "patio tomatoes" or "bush" tomatoes. Good luck!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! We could sure use some sun!!!

hello everyone. one thing I have learned over the last few days is that the old gray mare ain't what she used to be when it comes to gardening{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}. it is hard work and I just don't have the energy or stamina that I used to have. I guess that's to be expected at 63 but I am learning to divide my work into smaller pieces and take breaks as often as I need to.

I know some of you ( or your spouses) are going through some tough times right now with health issues and I am thinking of you and sending prayers daily.

to all, have a peaceful evening.

Re: "the old gray mare ain't what she used to be "

That's for sure! I'm also 63, and have finally accepted the fact that no amount of face masks or hair conditioners will make my KNEES younger. I'm going to have to have surgery. Not real thrilled about that. {#emotions_dlg.mellow}
