Hoping you will be able to view my postings/pictures! I think I will be able to view yours, but I’m not sure because I have never “friended” thru messenger.

@LTT1 I see I have sent you a ‘friend’ request.I am on an I Pad too. Just accept it as you would normally do.

This is how my day went: to MD for neuropathy test (required by MEDICARE); an electric charge is used and it is not supposed to hurt...well, I beg to differ. Yes, it hurts but not DH, who said it didn’t hurt when the test was performed on him.

Next, we went down stairs to schedule my colonoscopy, (new MD) my apt had been originally scheduled for 10/1. This MD had an ankle break so had to re-schedule. They never called me back.

Today, received a phone message that i had left my sunglasses. No i had not. Tried to call “Aimee” (receptionist) back. Nobody answers. Oh, dear!

@katte

Such good news about your DD!

@JustJazzmom

I am curious... how would I back up pictures on an external hard drive or thumb drive using an iPad? Thank you!

Re: 60's Ladies and Everyone~Please Join Us For The New Year!

miraculously, DH feels good today. last night he was having chills and nausea along with "other" GI issues, but this morning he's fine. how weird.

I have to tell you about our brief stay in Biloxi. life on the coast is a whole different thing than what we're used to. as far as I could tell, there's no such thing as a regular hotel there anymore, at least not in Biloxi. everything between Biloxi and Gulfport is casino based. there's one casino after another. the money must just roll in, because every place we saw was packed. to be honest, I've only even been inside a casino once in my life and that was when we went to one of the "boats" in Vicksburg many years ago. we went because the buffet is especially good, and we played the slot machine for maybe five minutes. back then they allowed smoking in the casino and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. the place where we stayed this weekend was smoke free except they did have a separate smoking room. but the thing that amazed me was the people who apparently sit at those machines for hours on end. we had to walk through the casino part to get anywhere in the hotel and every time went went through there it seemed like the same people where still sitting there. what we used to know as slot machines (that took quarters) now only take paper money. I put in a $5 bill and in seconds it was just gone. then we played another $5 and ended up winning a whole $2.44. I can't even imagine how much money you could lose if you were putting in 10 or 20 dollar bills at a time. of course I had no idea what I was doing. I don't know if there's actually any strategy to it or if it's just all purely luck but watching that thing spin round and round and making all that loud noise, it didn't take long for me to figure out that it was a ridiculous waste of money and way too much noise and flashing lights for me. DH, who always gets up 2 or 3 hours before I do, went down to the cafe to get some coffee and said there were tons of people sitting at those machines, drinks in hand, at 6am. I realize this is proof that I'm an old fuddy-duddy.  it was fun to watch for a day, but that was enough for me. so the moral of the story is (for me) if you like to drink and party and have tons of money to blow, go to Biloxi. I'm sure there's more to Biloxi and the rest of the coast than that, but that's the side we saw this weekend.

when we went to the place where the marathon runners were coming in, they announced the name of each runner as they crossed the finish line and told where they were from. I was a little surprised that there were runners from places like Ohio, New Jersey, Wisconsin, California, New York, Kentucky and lots of other southern states. some of the runners looked like they were older than me and I saw one woman who appears to be in her 80's! they were having a half-marathon as well as the full marathon and I don't know which one those older runners were doing, but that was pretty impressive to see. and here I am, thinking I'm doing good to walk two miles Smiley Happy .

Re: 60's Ladies and Everyone~Please Join Us For The New Year!

Hi friends,

Its a bright, sunshiny day here! DH and I finished up our shopping and wrapping for the family we are sponsoring this Christmas. Tomorrow I’ll take the gifts to the school and then I’ll get my hair cut. I think two more cuts and my hair will be all gray. Then I can grow it out a little again. I kind of like it short and curly though. No styling involved!

Mochahoney, I know you’re happy that your DSIL completed the marathon. I hope your DH gets to feeling better. You stay well! Did you sleep better last night? Your tree is beautiful. It looks about the same size as ours. How tall is it?

Hayfield, I hope you are having a great trip!!!

Katte, great news about your DD!! I’m so glad she’s feeling better and that the doctor got all the cancer. I’m almost done wrapping. It feels good to be almost ready for Christmas. Are you done with everything? I hope you’ll like your Keurig. What color did you get? Take care, Katte. 😊

RetRN, take care of that hand. I hope it is feeling better.

JJM, have a nice lunch with your friends tomorrow. Those are nice gifts you got for them.

SleeplessinSD, I hope you are feeling better today. Do you think your new medication is helping? Take care, friend. Thinking of you!

Hi to everyone else. Wishing you all a pleasant evening and many blessings! ❤️

Mochahoney, we were posting at the same time. I’m an old fuddy duddy too. I am not big on casinos either. I wonder about those people who sit there for hours and if they are loosing all their money. I worry about their families. Good news that DH is better and that you didn’t get sick! Sleep well!

@snardy  Hi - It is been cold and cloudy most of the week, but no snow as yet!  DH and I finished wrapping gifts yesterday.  I think I'm all done with shopping and as you said if feels good to have everything done so to speak, but I'm sure I'll remember something I forgot to do. Smiley Happy  My Keurig is red, as most of my counter top appliances are red. My refrigerator is stainless steel, as is my stove, Oster convection oven and dishwasher.  We leave to go visit the kids for Christmas December 23rd and we will return December 26th. It is about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive from here.  DH has been under the weather today.  He has a cold, just hope he doesn't get any worse.  I have been feeling pretty good.  I plan to volunteer Wednesday and then I probably won't volunteer until the first or second week of January.  Your hair sound cute.  My hair is short also, but I have fine hair.  Thank goodness it's still pretty thick.  I have to style it everyday.  I envy you having curly hair.  It's so much easier to take care of.

You take care and enjoy your evening!!

I've mentioned the infamous Jackson potholes & sinkholes before and have posted a few pics over the last couple of years.

here's the latest decorated pothole, in keeping with the season:

@MariotaMurielle, so glad your DH is feeling better. I hope you both were able to get a good nights sleep. I like to visit casinos once in a while. I never lose too much because I set a limit. When it’s gone, it’s gone. IMO, it’s luck, and I’ve been lucky a few times. Sadly, I do think there’s people will spend money they really can’t afford to in the hopes of winning big. Our ex SIL was in the AF and stationed in Biloxi. It’s special to me, though, because our DGS was born there, and we flew out for his birth. We stayed with our DD on base, so we didn’t see much of the area. Ha! Those pothole pictures are funny!

@katte, so happy to hear your DD won’t have to take those pills and that all the cancer is gone. I’m glad she’s feeling better too. We’ll be taking the Hornblower cruise Christmas Day. It will be fun, and I’m just happy not to be hosting!

@snardy, I think I’ve mentioned my sister is completely grey, actually white, now. She did get some low lights mixed in recently for the holidays and says she likes it. She has curly hair and wears it short too. All in all, she’s very happy not coloring anymore. I’m sure you will be too. I think my new meds are working some. I’m feeling a little better. Thank you for asking/caring💕...

@JustJazzmom, I’m sure your girlfriends will love the Smashbox palettes. A great gift! Enjoy your lunch tomorrow!

@LTT1, I didn’t know Medicare requires a neuropathy test. If it hurts, I don’t want it, lol! I’m sure your not looking forward to your colonoscopy, but I do hope they call you back! You had quite a day!😉

@Hayfield, I hope you made it safely to NYC. I thought of you with the attack that happened there this morning. Hopefully, you were nowhere near there. I can see where saving for college for two children would make it hard to take holiday excursions. Sounds like you have some great memories though. With the passing of your Mom, I’m sure it helped to make new ones. Enjoy your time away!

DH made a gift wrapping area in our loft upstairs. He put a table with tape, scissors, wrapping paper, bags, tags and bows on it. We finished wrapping all that we’ve bought so far. We just have a few things left to buy. I went to the post office and then stopped at Kohls. Everything is on sale and, of course, I did buy a couple add on gifts. It was a beautiful day here. I hope everyone had a good day...Waving to all our friends. Special thoughts for our friends going through difficulties and/or are not posting.😊❤️

Re: 60's Ladies and Everyone~Please Join Us For The New Year!

[ Edited ]

By popular demand I’m posting the Lebkuchen cookie recipe.

Lebkuchen Cookies (Nürnberger Lebkuchen)

Ingredients

4 eggs — 1 1/4 Cups brown sugar, packed — 1/4 Cup honey — 1 Tsp. vanilla extract — 1 1/2 Cups almonds, ground — 1 1/2 Cups hazelnuts, ground — 1/4 Tsp. salt — 1/2 Tsp. baking powder — 1/3 Cup each of candied citron, candied lemon peel & candied orange peel with 1/8 Cup flour — 1 Tbsp. Lebkuchengewürz (ingredients to follow)

Glaze: 2 Cups Confectioner’s sugar with 6 Tbsps. milk, slivered almonds for decoration

Lebkuchengewürz (German Gingerbread Spice)

2 1/2 Tbsps. ground cinnamon — 2 Tsps. ground cloves — 1/2 Tsp. ground allspice — 1/2 Tsp. ground star anise (2 dried anise stars) — 1/4 Tsp. mace — 1/4 Tsp. ground nutmeg

Yield: 6 Tbsps. Spice Mix

1) Store in airtight jar. Label with the date it’s made.

2) Use in making Lebkuchen cookies.

————————————————————————-

Method

1) Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Using a clean coffee grinder, grind the candied peeks & citron until finely minced.

2) In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until foamy. Add sugar, honey & vanilla & mix well.

3) Add ground nuts, salt,  baking powder, minced fruit & Lebkuchengewürz. Mix well.

4) On parchment paper draw 16 — 2” circles using bottom of an appropriate glass with a diameter of 2”. It will make a 2.5” diameter cookie.

5) Bake on middle rack of oven for 27 minutes. Remove cookie sheet & allow to cool completely. Peel each cookie off the parchment to complete cooling on wire rack.

6) Using a cookie sheet or wax paper under the wire rack, dip or frost the cookie tops in the glaze. Decorate with 3 slivered almonds into a ‘peace symbol’ when glaze is wet. Let cookies dry completely on wire rack. Glaze should be dry & hard. Transfer to store in a cookie tin.

Yield: 36 2.5” diameter cookies

Note: I used Bob’s Red Mill ground hazelnuts & ground almonds flour to save time.
