Annabelle here. This year I turned 68 years old! I celebrated for 1 week! I believe in celebrating birthdays. People look at me like I'm crazy when I say, "It's my birthday". They think it should be a downer. I look at them and say, "You either have a birthday ..... or you're dead. Right?"

Anyway, happy new year to all of you. I hope life continues to improve for all of you every year.

PS... will keep you posted, but I hope our heater didn't just quit... it is 32* here and suddenly (just as DH went out the door, of course) it felt like the system was giving us air conditioning!

the black eyed peas soaked over night. the 11 lb. ham is in the oven ( DH said "I know we don't need an 11 lb. ham but it was on sale". we'll divide it up and freeze it in sandwich/meal sized portions). we'll have the peas, ham, cabbage, turnip greens and cornbread this evening and then watch the Alabama game. having black eyed peas along with turnip greens and/or cabbage is tradition in the south, for good fortune in the new year. what kind of New Year meal traditions do you have in your part of the country?

let's propose a toast to good health, good fortune, good memories and a great year for all of us in 2015 my friends.
