Mochahoney... thank you SO MUCH for sharing the eagle pics... I have been intending to get to the "channel" to watch!
kitty... I will share what I know about estates... since we have just finished this business as of October. It took about a year when all was said and done. A group that does estate sales (an estate liquidator) came into DMIL's home and took charge of selling/carting off all of the items that none of the siblings wanted. This group became known to us through a neighbor of DBIL who does this type of thing for a living. The real estate agent who was supposed to sell the house was also known to DBIL through a neighbor... but that didn't work out. The brothers decided to "sell by owner.com" All went very well with that but you may not need to sell the house. You don't live in the area of the house, am I right? I am so sorry you are having to go through this with loss and everything.
The estate value was another issue that eventually got ironed out. USAA was not helpful at all and so I guess that is enough information about that as it may not apply to your situation.
Again, I am sorry that you have sadness to deal with at this time. ~loves

hi ladies and good evening!
i had another uneventful day today; bf still not up to snuff and so i just did a couple of errands and then not much else. very lazy today.
sunshine, it is so good to hear from you and i will definitely keep you in my prayers, most especially for good results on feb. 2nd.
hayfield, i identify with you right on about liking your alone time. i was married for 30 years and raised three children. since my divorce (omgosh ... 14 years ago!?!?!?) i have become really quite accustomed to my own company
and that is one great big reason why i have not remarried. i just don't think i could live with anyone again.
mocha, i really appreciate you posting the 'baby' pictures! they have gotten SO BIG ! they are lucky to have such good parents. thanks, too, for the info on your vitamix. i will stay tuned till february till yours arrives, and i will eagerly wait for all your raving about how fabulous it is.
kat, good for you on the dishes! your setting sounds really fun, and i am sure that every time you use them, they will make you HAPPY. good !!
spammom, it's really good to hear your news about your homecoming on saturday! i hope that it is every bit as wonderful as can be. enjoy every single minute, and we will be patiently waiting for all you have to share.
a great big welcome back again to you, loves. it sounds like it was a perfectly wonderful birthday weekend, and i'm glad you enjoyed!
i would also like to welcome you, kitty, ... and i hope that we see you often and i look forward to getting to know you!
so sorry, helen, that you are experiencing the dreaded 'poof'. hopefully it is just the website and NOT your ipad. that would not be good at all. although, either way, the big 'poof' is not good. *knocking on wood*
martie, i am glad that you are continually feeling better, and let's hope you stay that way!
wishing you all a beautiful evening and please stay safe and warm.

Spammom, I am so happy that things are getting better. Anxious to hear about the next chapter, I know things will go well for you in 2015.
Kitty1950, welcome to our group, I hope you will enjoy sharing with us. I retired at age 62, I was as R.N. working in hospitals for 40 years prior to retirement.

Good Evening Ladies! Well, I had a fun day. I think I told you I was planning on seeing "Big Eyes" at the movies with a friend I work with. Well, I check the paper the other day for the time and told my friend to meet me at the Panera's across from the theatre. Well, when we got there, the movie wasn't playing. I thought they changed what was playing on Friday, that's when I checked, but no, they change on Tuesday night! Anyway, "Big Eyes" wasn't playing and we had to pick another movie. I told my friend since I was the one to make the mistake that she could pick and I'd see whatever she wanted to see. She thoguht "Inherent Vice" looked good and I read the review in the weekend section last Friday and they gave it 4 stars, so I thought it would be a good choice. We didn't know if it was a comedy, a drama, or what! It was a little strange. The movie takes place in Calif. in 1970 and it was about a private investigator helping an old flame. Drugs was involved and the good thing was it wasn't very violent. We both thought it was more of a "dark comedy". Oh well, we saw some previews of moives we would like to see in the coming weeks but I'll be sure to check early in the morning the day we're going to go.

Mochahoney--I know you'll like your Vita-mix, I really like mine.
KatCat1--I'll have to check Pottery Barns website and look for your duvet, it sounds really nice. I stopped at Bed, Bath & Beyond after the movies and got pillow case covers and a mattress cover and saw a duvet that I liked but I'll keep looking for a while. I can just keep the other on the bed, even though it's for a queen untill I make a final decision.
Spammon--Yes, there is no place like home. You sound like you're really happy to go home and get on with things.
Kitty1950--Welcome! Since you mentioned that you're 64, I'll assumme that you'll be 65 this year? I think the 1950 in your name gave me that hint! I have an older brother that will be 65 in June. I turned 60 this past October. I was a real estate apprasier in my "other life" but now I work part time as a tour guide at Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. I was born & raised in PA about 22 miles east of Pittsburgh but moved to Northern Virginia in 1978 when I got married. I have two children, a son, 29 who lives and works in NYC and a daughter, 25 that works full time and is working on her master full time at night. She'll graduate in May, She's getting her master in special education. She still lives at home, she saved her money for her masters, so she won't have any school loans when she moves out. My DH is still working but may retire sometime in 2016. I'd love to retire in the North Carolina area. I also love South Carolina. Building a house sounds like so much fun! Will you be near the beach? You'll have to tell us all about your house. When we went to Charleston, SC two years ago, we stopped and visited a friend who retired in the Wilmington, NC area and we just loved it. They are only 10 minutes from the beach. I loved their house too, all on one level with a very large screen porch, it was heaven. I'm freezing right now, so anywhere south of me sounds heavnly right now! Welcome to our group, we're great, if I do say so myself!

Good evening/early morning ladies, and welcome Kitty.
Thank you for telling us a little about yourself. DH & I retired in 2011, sold our home in Virginia Beach, VA and moved to Jacksonville, Fl. We love living here, and have no regrets about retiring. My DH loves to ride his Harley motorcycle locally and to Daytona Beach twice a year for large motorcycle bike fests. He is also an avid bowler and bowls on a league weekly.
Due to some heath issues, I am somewhat restricted to what activities I can do. I enjoy reading, decorating our home, cooking, and our precious kitties. They are so much comfort to me since I have become such a homebody!
Hope you can post often, and good luck with building that home.
Cindy

Good Morning! I'm working today and we're having a heat wave, it's going to be in the 40's! Everyone, have a great day!
Helen: Thanks for the snow scene. I love looking out at the snow, it's driving in it that I don't like!
Kitty 1950--Yes, you will enjoy your sunroom. We have a screen porch off our kitchen that we use in nice weather and I really love it. We recently had our old wood stove insert pulled out of the fireplace and had gas logs installed. Needless to say I am loving just getting the remote and turning the fire on! I consider it my adult toy! It's been so cold here and after dinner I get my jammies on and sit by the fire! I hate the cold though. Sorry you're having problems with your parents estate, sometimes it takes years to get things settled. My parents didn't have much and my brother & I got things settled pretty quickly, he did most of the work since he's still in the town where we grew up. My dad died of leukemia in 1981 and my mom passed away in 2001, so it's been a long time since they passed. Still miss them but life keeps marching on, as they say. Yes, my daughter works so hard and she doesn't get paid much and loves what she does. She currently works with challenged adults at a Adult Training Center. It's a state facility that they are closing and that's why she decided to get her master in special education and go into the school system. Her long term goal is to go into the administrative part of the system. My son, on the other had works in marketing, mostly connected to Broadway shows, etc. Needless to say I go to NYC a lot and see a lot of Broadway shows.
