Re: 6 MONTH BOTOX IS HERE

[ Edited ]

@Pink123  Thanks for posting about it. I can't afford it, but I love reading the details. The most I do is use Tretinoin and a moisturizer. I agree about some of the plastic surgeons in Hollywood, fillers seem to look the worst. I have a brown spot too, on my left cheek, when I see my dermatologist again, I'm going to ask her about it.

FYI.  If anyone here gets botox the new "SIX" month botox is out.  I don't think  too many places have it yet.

It only lasts 3 months with botox.  I don't have many forehead wrinkles or 11's because I have trained myself not to be too expressive or squint.

However, 6 months ago I tried it after doing it once a few years ago.  My Doctor said it will lift my lids and open the eye somewhat.  Well, guess what?  It did.

I just had the 6 months botox injections right before I had the "cool peel" treatment.  Hope they are right.  I'm counting the days and wrote it down on my calendar when I took it last Friday. lol.

PS.  This one takes a bit longer than 3,4,5, days to take full effect.

We shall see.

@Pink123

THANK YOU for sharing your experiences with all this!

I'm so envious!

You know so much.  and have so much expeience, knowledge, & so generously share this with us.

It feels you were very brave and even braver still, sharing all your experiences with us.

I have a million questions

Thnks for sharing updated info abt upcoming 6 month Botox.

  • Are Botox shots on the face painful, at any time?
  • Is there some kind of numbing ahead?
  • As it ages, does Botox just slowly loosen up the effects?
  • Why Botox, vs the other such choices, ex Juvederm, etc
  • Does Medical Ins ever cover it, (not for migraine)
  • Why did you choice inj vs cutting?
  • Do you use a Retinol, or a Vit C or Hyaluronic, or Collagen?  Or other Face Cosmetics?
  • Do you know if someone who has an AutoImmune Disorder (me, several in fact)  can also receive Botox (Botulism)?  Botulinum toxin?

@Pink123

Apologize for so many questions.

Again, thanks for being so open, & offering so much info & help!

My derm did my first Botox and she was still learning. She over injected which gave me a heavy brow look.  it did wear off after about 10 weeks but that was 13 yrs ago. since then i've had PS do it and he uses Dysport.  i haven't done it for a few years now...too expensive

@JoyFilled Warrior   goodness so many questions!  google  REALSELF dot com and type in Botox  - will give you all the info you need.

I tried the regular Botox once and it had a weird result.  I guess they try to uplift the eyebrow by freezing/killing the nerves in other parts (at the beginning of the eyebrow). and then they leave the middle part alone with no Botox.  The middle part stays "up" and the other parts are relaxed.  Well I certainly had a curved eyebrow but the frozen/killed part made that part of the eyebrow limp and it crashed down about 1/2 inch, making it look in that area like I had a semi-hooded eyebrow in the corners closest to my nose.  I've been hesitant to try it again.

@santorini  Sorry to hear that and I understand.  however, it's all about the injector.  These med spas and PA's as they call them are definitely ones to stay away from and are scary.  I too went to a dermatologist office once and used a PA.  It was money thrown out the window.  Good to check reviews too.

A board certified plastic surgeon is best in my humble opinion. They injected you into the wrong part of your forehead.  Yes, it happens.    But with a good injector the results are beautiful.

This was by an actual plastic surgeon.

It is all about the injector. I have been to med spas, board certified derms, and a master injector. Truthfully, I had my worst injections done by a derm.

@JoyFilled Warrior

Just from my personal experience, I have several chronic autoimmune diseases/disorders and I've also had a thalamic stroke. I've gotten Botox and dysport many times from my Dermatologist (she's also a plastic surgeon) with no ill effects at any time. I am excited that there is a longer lasting version available now. I'll have to work some overtime to be able to afford it but I'm good with that!  💉💉

@JoyFilled Warrior  I will answer your questions when I have some time, but your first is the time.  No. it does not hurt at all, you hardly feel it  - a little pinch  at best, and takes about a minute or two. Very simple.

Secondly, yes it wears off slowly over time. You only need to make a frowny face or lift your brows to see that it is indeed wearing off.

No, Juvederm is a filler for the face areas only and has nothing to do with the forehead, number 11's or crinkly side eyes if you have them.

I had a plastic surgeon inject botox for my eye area. My lids droopped for a month. Everyone reacts differently. Yes, I've heard about botox supposedly lifting the lids. I spent my money on having my upper lids done. Painless and totally natural results. I can finally wear full eye makeup again!!

@ellaphant  good for you,  But I hope it wasn't the first Doctor.

That's unacceptable and I'm sorry you had to go through it.  I'm not there yet, and my botox lifts my lids just fine so far.

As I said before it's all about the Doctor, and please read the reviews or word of mouth by others.

Just my opinion, but I dont blame my doctor for my lids drooping. I have a friend who goes to him with great results. I am one of many people who have a negative reaction to Botox. The actress Dana Delaney did as well - she wrote about lower lid drooping in an article.

Yes, my doctor did a fabulous job on my upper lids!

All you brave ladies!  I could never.  No, no and double no!  I would love to have the bags under my eyes removed but they'd have to put me to sleep first Smiley Surprised
