Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good afternoon.  Went to the grocery store this morning.  After everything was put away, I put the Chrstmas stuff away.  There wasn't that much so it didn't take long.  Now Willow has her window back as the tree was in front of it and she couldn't sit on the windowsill and look outside.  Mind you she has lots of other windows to look out of, but which window did she want?  The one she couldn't have.  Now that the tree is put away,  I wonder how long it will take her to realize she can see out that window again.

Was going to do some laundry and change linens but I've decided that can wait until tomorrow.  Hope everyone is doing ok today.

@SleeplessinSD  - I am keeping your nephew and family in my prayers

@MariotaMurielle - So happy that Ezra liked his bike and other than the pecan pie, it sounds like your dinner went well.

Take care everyone!

Good afternoon. Supermarket was busy with people buying items before the freezing rain moves in later tonight.

I did laundry & ran the DW yesterday. Now everything is put away.

I am making Thai basil shrimp with actual fresh off the plant Thai basil leaves! My son & DIL bought an actual basil plant for me.

Just finished a sliced tomato & sliced mozzarella salad. Also had some of my cookies.

My DIL's brother is feeling better after he started the Tamiflu.

Have a relaxing Sunday all.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Just checking in for a quick minute. Stayed up late talking with my sister, slept in some but not enough. We were planning to go out today to run errands and get a bite to eat but changed our mind...nothing urgent that can't wait for another day.  Still cold outside...I heard rain by New Year's.

@JudyL , I didn't put out much as far as decorations either, but we'll probably wait until after New Year's to put things away. I'm sure Willow's discovered her window,  but she's probably used to sitting in front of the door now! LOL!

@MariotaMurielle , I took our grandkids many years ago to a ceramic store at Christmas. They each decorated a Santa plate with their names. I put them out every year..they love seeing them.

@JustJazzmom , I remember when I was in high school they sold fruitcakes during the holidays. They were from Texas and so good. I haven't had any in a long time...

I hope Everyone's doing well...stay warm and have a great rest of the day.

@SleeplessinSD  Those fruitcakes were probably from Collin Street Bakery.

I just had a serving of my Thai basil shrimp & served it with basmati rice. Usually serve with jasmine but wanted basmati tonight.

I used real Thai basil leaves, but you can sub Italian basil leaves.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Our family party went well, but a hot dinner plate left a white mark on our wood table. A Google search said to spread on some mayonnaise and let it sit overnight. That helped a great deal.  Since it's a game table I bought when furnishing my first apartment, I didn't feel particularly bad about the accident.

Now the snow is starting. We're under a snow warning until 3pm Monday.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!--We had a nice weekend, the weather was good, in the 70's.  Friday night we took a short boat ride along the Cape Fear River to see the lights, they had a guy playing the guitar and they sold drinks, it was only a 1 hour ride, then we went to dinner at one of the restaurants along the river.  DS has a friend that her mother lives in the area and they invited us to join us on the river ride and dinner.  I had never met them before but they were really nice and we had a nice time.  Saturday I just did a few things around the house and then we went out to dinner, again and watched the drone show from the riverwalk.  It's a nice little show, only about 15 minutes long.  DS left yesterday morning and DH & I golfed in the afternoon, we only did 9 holes, I hadn't played in a week and didn't feel like playing 18.  I'm play 9 today with my Monday lady friends, so it will be nice to catch up and hear about everyone's Christmas.

We're going out NYE to the golf club, most of the people that are going, we golf with, so it should be nice.  New Year's Day we're having our old friends from Virginia, they live in Southport now, about 45 minutes from us for dinner.  We started a New Year's Day tradition years ago when our children were small, so we take turns going to each others house.  I hope everyone has a good day!

SISD--Happy to hear that you had a nice Christmas Day.  Is your DGD still in town?  Hopefully you'll get to see her before she leaves.

MM--It sounds like you had a nice Christmas.  Visting friends around the holidays is a nice time to catch up with them!

JJM--I hope you're still feelilng well and didn't pick up the flue from your DIL's brother.

Dazlin--An electric bike, sounds nice!  Quite a few people have them here! Enjoy!

AuntG--So nice to hear from you!  Glad your holiday was fun, minus the damaged table!

JudyL--We'll leave our decorations up until Saturaday or Sunday since we have friends coming over on NY's day.  I am ready to take them down now though!

A busy day which started with me getting the spinach I forgot at the further away supermarket. I set up everything to make the salmon with feta cheese dill, peas, chicken broth & subbing for the orzo pasta, the pastina pasta. I used my kitchen scale to see the amount of pastina needed in place of the orzo. It's much more than 3/4 Cup if you measure the pastina to equal the amount of ounces.

Then my oldest son called & he came by after having lunch with friends. He figured out why not all my iTunes library transferred via sync to my iPhone. Over 1000 songs had (i)s in front of them. We surmised that the iTunes was trying to add these duplicate songs, but their files weren't correct. We started to delete the songs with the (i)s in front of them, then synced the library to my iPhone & they appeared on my phone.

My job was to delete all the songs with the (i)s in front of them. These songs all had duplicates in my iTunes library. Once I did that & synced my library to the phone, all the missing songs appeared on my phone!

I am happy to say the original Broadway cast album of Cabaret is now on my phone as well as my iPad. My iPad had enough storage but my old phone had half the storage.

He will have to come back to put up a laundry hanger on my door of my laundry room. It scr ews into the door & has 4 movable rods so clothing can hang on on each of the rods. I won't have to use ny shower rod in the guest bath to hang clothes that need air drying.

Since my son came by late this PM, I ended up not making my skillet salmon. I'll make it tomorrow.

[ Edited ]

we had a busy day, doing just the usual. I un-decorated the Christmas tree last night and put all of the ornaments and the tree skirt away. this morning while DH had Ezra distracted I took the Christmas wreath off the front door and put it in a wreath bag. I got my old plain red berry wreath out to put on the door but it looked so bad I threw it in the trash. the fake red berries are falling off and the remaining ones are cracked and/or peeling. I'll find a new one to replace it.

when DSIL got here to pick up Ezra he took the Christmas tree down, put it in the big zip-up tree bag and lugged it to the garage.

@JustJazzmom , I think DH and I are the only ones in our family who like fruitcake. a good one is hard to find. @SleeplessinSD , I remember having some fruitcake that we ordered from Texas many years ago and it was delicious but I can't remember the name of the company. is it Claxton, maybe? when I was a kid I remember my mother making a fruitcake that was not baked. since she was well known for not liking to cook or bake maybe that's why she made that particular version. it was so good and I haven't had one like it in years.

I just spent 45 minutes on a live chat with Xfinity about our bill. it's ridiculously high. the end result is a promotional plan that will cost about $59 a month less than we're paying now. it includes Peacock Premium at no charge and a faster internet speed. it's still too much money to watch TV and use the internet, but I don't know how I could do better. now I'm exhausted from having to think about all that!

we had howling winds during the night that woke me up at 3am. it has gone from way too hot to way too cold here again. air conditioner yesterday and heater today.

sending blessings and prayers to all.

here's an Ocean Springs sunset. it almost looks like snow on the plants, but of course it's not.

have a peaceful evening, y'all.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!  Well, we've gone to the 70's back to the 40's!  I'm glad I golfed yesterday!  It was such a nice day and then we had lunch and we caught up with how our Xmas was.  I'll be seeing these ladies and their husband's tomorrow for the NYE party at the club.  Today I'm cleaning and catching up on laundry.  The sun is out but too cold, for me at least, to golf.  I won't golf when it's in the 40's, mid 50's with the sun out is OK.  I'll be golfing on Friday.

JJM--So nice that you have DS to stop by and help out with things.

Dazlin--How great that you were able to get those decorations down, we'll keep ours up until Sunday since we're having friends over NY's Day and we're golfing on Saturday.  Enjoy having your grandson!

MM--Yes, even fake berries on wreaths get old and you need to get a new fake wreath!  I got a new wreath recently, it was looking really bad!
