Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!  It's cold today and windy but the sun is out!  DH & I are playing golf today, just 9 holes, another couple is planning on playing with us but she said she may cancel at the last minute if she thinks it's too cold for her, I told her it was OK that DH & I don't mind playing by ourselves.  So  many of women don't like playing with their husbands but it's the one thing I really enjoy doing with him and the reason I started playing golf in the first place, it was never something I thought about doing, I'm so unathletic!

Stayed home the last two days, on Friday I made manicotti to freeze and have enough for a couple of months.  Yesterday I made a pot of sauce and meatballs, which turned out really good!  Yum!  I hope that everyone is having a good weekend!

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

SISD--The reports of all the rain in California is distressing to hear and especially the mudslides they bring.  The tornadoes in Alabama are also just horrible, so much destruction.

JJM--Thinking of you & hope that you're doing OK under the circumstances.

JudyL--Welcome to our thread!  We're a nice bunch if I do say so myself!  I'm originall from western PA, then moved to the DC area where DH worked for 41 years, then we moved to southeastern North Carolina to spend our retirement years, love here and enjoy the area, we're close to so many beaches and golf courses!  I've been to California twice, the San Diego area and San Francisco & Nappa, loved it and want to go back some day.  I always wanted to fly into Northern California, rent a car and drive down the PCH, hopefully we'll get to do it, travel became a little more trickly the last few years!

MM--I'm sorry that your DSIL parents don't want to help with their grandson, especially with their son going through what he's going through right now, the help I'm sure would be appreicated by your DD and you too.  Maybe they'll change their minds, at least take their grandson one day a week, just to give everyone a break, babies are a joy but they do wear you out!

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good morning.  When I first woke up this morning and didn't hear the rain, I thought Wahooo!!  Then it started again.  LOL  We are supposed to get a break starting Tuesday.

Went grocery shopping, came home and did some food prep.  Someone mentioned in an earlier post that she was making a meatloaf for dinner and that sounded so good.  So guess who is having meatloaf and baked potato for dinner tonight. Good comfort food on a cold stormy night.

My Niners won yesterday so today will be watching football and doing a few little chores here and there while listening to the games.  Also watched some beauty YT videos and one had a review of the Mally Poreless Face Defender.  Sounded interesting.  Anyone try/use this?

Hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Sunday.

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

hi friends. it has been sunny and beautiful here the last several days, but a little too cold and windy to be outside enjoying it.

we usually don't keep Ezra on the weekends. we didn't have him yesterday, so DH went out and ran some errands and did some grocery shopping.  I had the chance to catch up on some drudgery, like vacuuming, mopping and laundry. DD only has a few mandatory weekend work days a year and she had to work both days this weekend. DSIL was feeling sick today so we kept Ezra. it was only about 5 hours and we enjoyed it. usually our Ezra days are about 9 or 10 hours or more.

@Hayfield, I think the bridge is burned between my DD and her in-laws. there's a lot I could say about them but those things wouldn't be appropriate on this forum. there may come a time when they might see fit to help their son if he can't drive to & from chemo, but keeping or helping with the baby isn't going to happen.

we're having a variety of PF Chang (from the grocery freezer Smiley Happy ) for supper tonight. it's easy and good.

here's a Mississippi gulf coast sunset.

have a peaceful evening, y'all.

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!  Well, the weather was OK yesterday and we golfed, the sun was out and some gusts of winds but it was nice to be out!  Since I made a big breakfast we didn't eat lunch since we were golfing and went to lunch/dinner after we golfed.  Today, there's another frost delay, 2 hours, DH will be playing around 10:30 but my friends & I had a tee time for 2 and unless they catch up, some people may cancel we won't be playing.  We can't start at 4 since it takes 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes of golf and it will get dark.  Bummer since it's going to be in the 60's this afternoon.   We're going to call the clubhouse around noon and see what our new tee time would be, can't be later than 3 or no golf!  So glad I played yesterday.  I have things to do around the house if we don't play golf, no big deal!  I hope that everyone had a good weekend!

MM--Yes, you're right, I wouldn't give out any information about DD's in-laws on this forum.  I just hope that at some point they have a change of heart, especially with what their son is going through.

Viva--Shopping at the mall is not fun anymore, you can't find what you want most of the time anyway!

Good Evening Friends, I've been a little under the weather. With the weather we've been having, we have no desire to go anywhere, so I've spent the last couple days just taking care and resting. Sounds like everyone's keeping busy.  We're watching football, and in a little bit, I'll be heading upstairs, so I'll catch up with everyone later..

Have a peaceful rest of the evening..Good Night!

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Hi Everyone

Stopping in to say Hi before going to bed.  We went to Tucson today for my six month follow up with my cardiac surgeon.  The visit went well, he said I looked really good.  He wanted to take me off this medication I've been on for some time, but decided to leave me on it as it was too risky regarding my AFIB.   We did some shopping today also, went to Costco, stopped by Penneys and got a couple of new bras.  I've lost weight so of course had to get a new size.  We also stopped by the Orowheat Day Old Bakery and I got quite a few good bargains.  Of course we had lunch at our favorite Mexican food restaurant, which is always so good.  DH's birthday is this Saturday, so I called our lunch his "birthday lunch".  Friday I go and get a body perm.  Looking forward to it.  My hair is so fine, it really helps a lot.  It's been so cold here and it's supposed to be worse tomorrow.  It was only 45 today and we had snow in the mountains, but the snow level is supposed to drop to our level tomorrow.  We won't get much.  It's been a long day, so I'll sign off for now.  Everyone have a nice evening.  @JudyL  Welcome to our group of great ladies!!!

Re: “2023”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

@katte  Glad you got a good report from your cardiologist today.
Here on the East Coast, Orowheat is called Arnold's. I miss those stores, Pepperidge Farm was another store I liked to pick up their Milano cookies at half price.

@MariotaMurielle I have seen the PFChang's frozen meals in the supermarkets. I think I bought the dumplings in the past. When we lived on LI there was a restaurant near us where we ate the PFChang's food. Before we moved, PFChang's set up a take out place in the strip mall by us. It wasn't as good as eating in their actual restaurant.

@JudyL welcome to this little group. I grew up on LI, NY & with my spouse moved last year to a condo in MA to be near our 3 boys, DILs & grandsons.

Sadly, my spouse of 40 years passed away due to a long illness 2 weeks ago.

Today I made tuna fish salad for lunches this week & made for dinner tonight with eventual leftovers shrimp Creole with rice. I also went out to do some grocery shopping despite it was lightly snowing. I was glad to be home after my foray.
