@SleeplessinSD Thanks for starting the 2023 thread.
Happy new year everyone! We had a quiet New Year's Eve with us having frankfurters & vegetables for dipping.
Today I got the battery replaced on my iPhone at the local Apple store in the mall. The battery was no longer holding an adequate charge.
Our middle son has dropped by to lower our LR wall mounted TV & set up a sound bar which was our 3 boys Christmas gift to us. He will be dropping the height on another wall mounted TV so DH won't have to strain with his head to watch it.
He also moved the desk & file cabinet so they are in each other's place. The shredder got moved to a safer place so tiny fingers when GS attempts to stand won't injure himself. When the family came by, we turned it off instead of leaving it on auto.
Have a healthy & wonderful start to 2023.

happy 2023, y'all.
we had a quiet New Year's night, just the 2 of us. there were some fireworks somewhere nearby but nothing excessive.
DD came over this afternoon for a visit with baby Ezra so her DH could have a quiet apartment for a nap. she fell asleep on the couch and slept for 2 hours. nap mission accomplished, apparently
I took an online survey for the Arbor Day Foundation and they will be sending us 12 flowering trees in the spring. we'll be getting dogwoods, redbuds, crape myrtles and some others I've already forgotten the names of. I especially love dogwoods and we have the perfect place for them already picked out. we really want to plant some plum trees in the backyard this spring. DD told us one of her fondest childhood memories is picking plums from a neighbor's tree when she was little. she asked if we would plant plum trees so Ezra could have the same experience and I can't wait!
sending blessings to all.
here's a Leesburg, Ms. sunset.
have a peaceful evening, y'all.

Good Morning!
@JustJazzmom , our DS got us a Bose sound bar as a together gift for Christmas. He and DH set it up on Saturday when he was here.
@MariotaMurielle , I like Dogwood trees too. We had a beautiful one at the house we lived in before. Are they sending you the trees because you did the survey? 12 flowering trees will be beautiful and add so much to your landscape. I love the plum tree idea. I'm sure Ezra will too!
We started taking down Christmas decorations yesterday and have just a few things to box up today. Our weather remains cold and rainy, so we plan to stay in and get things done around the house. I hope everyone had a good weekend...have a safe, happy Monday/week ahead!
I took this picture while we were sightseeing at our DD's. It's a beautiful lake about 10 to 15 minutes from her house.

@MariotaMurielle The trees when they arrive will be very small. I suggest putting them in containers to acclimate them to their new home.

hi friends. it was a quiet day of rest and a little bit of catching up with a few things here at the house. supper was leftovers from New Years day. I cooked enough black eyed peas to feed an army. I always forget how much dried peas multiply
@SleeplessinSD, the lake in your photo is beautiful. was it cold when you were visiting your DD?
years ago I made a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation and once or twice a year they send literature. when I got the offer of free trees just for doing a short survey online I was happy to do it.
@JustJazzmom, here's a list of what they're sending. they said the trees won't be shipped until it's time to plant them, but putting them in pots until we get them in the ground is a good idea.
we are supposed to have really bad weather tomorrow with the possibility of tornadoes and hail. hopefully it won't be as bad as the last storm we had. baby E will be here with us and DD will be going with DSIL to his oncology appointment.
blessings to all.
here's a Long Beach, Ms. sunset.
have a peaceful evening, y'all.

Good Morning Friends, another cold and rainy day. We'll be in the low 50's. I slept well and longer than usual, so haven't had time to think about what's going on here for today. I'm glad we have all of Christmas put away....
@MariotaMurielle , the weather at our DD's last week while we were there was nice, in the 60's during the day. It cooled off at night and went down to the 30's. They've had snow, light, this week...she loves it! It rained the morning we left and was foggy while we were driving back home. There were winding roads. DH drives a little faster than I like. I kept putting my foot to the floor and grabbing his arm...it got a little tense, lol! It's obvious, we aren't used to long car trips! Keeping good thoughts for your DD and DSIL today, and also for you with the bad weather predicted your way...take care.
Have a safe, happy Tuesday Everyone! BBL!
