@MariotaMurielle , I can't imagine eating salad day after day. I agree with @catwhisperer , they get full of calories with toppings and dressings. Losing 10 lbs. is hard. Especially ially right now...good luck to your DH.
@LTT1 , LDN...I had to look that up. I'm glad your interview went well and hope it helps. Sounds interesting...
@viva923 , sorry to hear about your walkers. You're so active..I hope you can find a better pair.
@JustJazzmom , as usual, your meals sound so good. The other night, for an appetizer, I made stuffed jalapeños. The recipe said to boil the jalapeños for a few minutes before stuffing and putting in oven. Also, to cut in half. It wasn't long before my DH and I couldn't breathe and were coughing from the smell..Ill never do that again!
@snardy , I hope you, DH and Maisy are doing well. I miss you, dear friend...
It seems like the days are running into one another and time is flying by. It's nice to come here and read what everyone's up to. Waving Hi to all our friends...I hope everyone had a happy, healthy day...😊❤️

@SleeplessinSD wrote:@catwhisperer , thank you...I'm OK. I've been dealing with family issues the last few days. I talked with my SIL. Actually, I mostly listened to her cry how much she missed my brother. That was hard, but I relate and understand. She's not doing well. On top of her other serious health issues, she found out she's anemic and having some kidney problems. I talked to my niece, who visits as often as she can. She says she's not eating or taking care of herself. She misses everyone. My sister, who doesn't live far from her, may plan a visit. It will be outdoors and as safe as can be. We also all decided we would not have a Christmas gathering this year. Makes me sad even though, I know it's the right thing to do...
I have no explanation for people that, at the very least, don't return phone calls. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Are you keeping cool? It was hot today. We just came in from outdoors. Thank goodness, it's cooled off some...
@SleeplessinSD ...I am so very sorry to hear about your SIL having such a hard time. It can be unbearable, and it sounds like she has reached her limit at this point. I feel so bad for her and just don't know what else to say. (((Hugs))) to you and your SIL. Just continue to support her and be there for her as I know you will.
I'm trying to stay as cool as I can in this apt. I might have to sleep on the living room floor in front of the A/C tomorrow night if it gets much hotter. No A/C in the bedroom.

Good morning! We have had overnight a thunderstorm, rain & now just cloudy skies. I was up early to await the lawn sprinkler people to change out the rain sensor. It is now wireless! No worries about the thin speaker wire breaking or getting hidden by construction. The rain sensor is on the roof near a gutter & the sensor on it connects to another sensor that is wired into the programmable clock. It was drizzling by the time they got here.
They also changed out a floodlight for me that I had changed yesterday & saw last night wasn't working. I will return it for another one today.
Nothing on the agenda today, the DW has been emptied. I may make the mango salsa today for tomorrow. We have some leftovers to eat tonight. I took the rainbow trout filets & put them in the freezer for future. It was on sale this week so that is a nice dish for when I run out of ideas.
Sorry to hear your SIL @SleeplessinSD is having problems dealing with her grief. I'm glad your relatives are keeping an eye on her.
@catwhisperer Hope that there is less heat in your apartment today. Can you get someone in to install an A/C in your bedroom? Or will that be a lot of trouble? Is it through the wall the LR one or through a window?
Waving to everyone else. @LTT1 @MariotaMurielle @viva923

@catwhisperer wrote:Venting....why do people say, "I'm here for you, call me any time", yet if I call them, they don't answer the phone or call me back? If you don't want to talk to me, don't tell me to call any time. I don't understand. Can anyone explain why people do that?
Edited to add that my UPS guy checks on me on a regular basis, which is more than anyone else does. SMH.
@catwhisperer, I think the answer to your question goes back to that awkward situation where people really just don't know what to say. it's hard to face someone who is grieving because of the intense sadness and overwhelming emotions. they feel like they need to say something so they just blurt out a familiar, well meaning saying.
it's avoidance, which is how a lot of people deal with uncomfortable emotions.

@JustJazzmom ....I have a wall unit A/C in the LR. I can't afford to buy an A/C for the bedroom, and I doubt it would be allowed anyway. Mgm't. doesn't want to do anything around here. I have a folding futon mat that I can put on the LR floor to sleep on. Our heatwave is supposed to peak today. Possibly close to 100 degrees. Yuck.

Well, it got to 95 here today. I turned the A/C and all my fans on at 10:30 this morning, so it's very comfortable in the apt. I am so thankful it's a dry heat, not humid on top of it.

@viva923 ......I know I have complained about this phone calling issue before, and if I recall, you did mention once that you had the same problem, so it's not just me. I actually did give up at one point and stopped calling people. I guess that's just how people are nowadays. It's funny though, if they call YOU, they expect you to answer and be available for THEM.
Just yesterday, a relative called me, and at the end of our conversation, he said, "Don't be a stranger. Call any time." I said, "Well, when I do call you, you never answer the phone or call me back." He had no reply other than to chuckle.

@catwhisperer, I wish we had dry heat. it feels like a steam room when you step outside here. we've had thunderstorms today, which made it feel even steamier.
my DH wouldn't touch a steamed vegetable with a ten foot pole. the salads he's eaten over the past week or two have been his whole meal and included boiled eggs, baked chicken tenders, boiled shrimp. and yes, bottled salad dressing. I guess it's a trade-off of sorts since that's all he ate.
@SleeplessinSD, I forgot to answer you the other day when you asked about my DD. she's doing really well and her treatments seem to be keeping her in remission, with occasional mild acute episodes. I am so grateful that she found that doctor and that those treatments are available to her. thank you for your concern. I'm sorry your SIL is having such a hard time.
our local library just reopened and I was able to renew my card over the phone instead of having to go there. I think they have drive-thru book pickup.
I can't believe tomorrow's August. I have an appointment for an ultrasound in late August and I'm thinking about canceling it. I just don't think I want to be going to a big medical facility with all this going on with the virus. the health ddepartment has been reporting over 1000 new cases in the state almost every day lately and most of them are in our county. I think I'll message her and see what she thinks about rescheduling for sometime early next year. really, next year will be here soon, as fast as time seems to be flying by.
sending blessings to all.
here's a Lyon, Mississippi sunflower sunset.
have a peaceful evening, y'all.

@MariotaMurielle ....I tried so hard for years to get my DH to eat a healthier diet. He was like dealing with a little kid. Only wanted his meat and potatoes, bacon, eggs, etc. Refused to eat most healthier options.
Didn't want to go to the doctor. You have no idea what he put me through when he fell and broke his hip and REFUSED to go to the hospital. He argued with me, the firemen, and paramedics after I called 911. He was furious with me for calling them. End result, he's gone now. I guess that's a man thing, not for all, but many. Sad. Oh well, they are going to do what they want to do regardless of any negative consequences.
This is exactly why I am trying to live a healthy lifestyle now by exercising and eating mostly vegan. I know I'm going to die from something, but I'm trying to prolong the inevitable as long as possible.
Edited to add that my eating/exercise decisions are based on my doctor's recommendations.
