We need another thread for "it's" vs. "its." Lol.

I am so glad English is my first language!  It truly must be one of the most difficult languages to learn.

@Snowhite714

Umm, nope!  I hear those errors when spoken, not only in texts.

BTW, the plural of text is texts, not textes. I hear that all the time.

@PhilaLady1   The apostrophe is always a substitute for a letter.  In the case of it's, it's a substitute for i, as in it is.  It's time to go.

In they're the apostrophe is a substitute for a, as in they are.

In you're it's a substitute for a, as in you are.

I hope this makes sense.

In contractions, but not in possessives. The dog's blanket. Tom's house.

The ones I see/hear often used improperly  are "lay" and "lie."

@ID2. Drives me crazy when someone posts ‘walla’ Instead of ‘voila’

Oh boy, that’s my sore spot too. Drives me right up the wall.

@this is my nic You've addressed your post to me, but I have no idea what you're talking about.  If you are going to respond to an individual post you should quote it in your response that way it doesn't get lost in translation.

Two errors you see on here that drive me crazy are using an apostrophy for plurals such as: she has three daughter's; I have two dog's; there are several restaurant's near the park; I have too many coat's. The other glaring error is "his self" as in he made it his self instead of he made it himself or he doesn't take care of his self instead of himself.

The apostrophe on Christmas cards always gets me. We get one from a teacher that is always incorrect (??).

Off topic but it’s Nordstrom. No S. Not Nordstroms. Bugs the heck out of me
