i just got a new equinox and love it. the center console is really deep and seems like a black hole. does anyone, who has the car, have a good way to keep things(glasses, umbrella, etc) handy with out reaching way down?
thanks for any help or insights.

I have a GMC Terrain and it has the same thing. I can't figure out how to use it, so I don't. I'll be interested in the replies you get.

Would one of those purse organizers work? Like Pursefection or similar?
Hey, invent something, go on Shark Tank, get Lori Greiner to partner with & you could sell it on QVC! ![]()

the "black hole" is kind of a boot shape, with plugs at the bottom. i think the purse things would just go to the bottom, but at least it would be together and not rolling around. i was looking at the purse netting thing, to use between the seats. i would just like to keep things out of sight. still thinking...
thanks for responses.

I have a 2013 Equinox, bought it new and I love it ! It only has 17,000 miles on it b/c I work at home. It has a small box seated above the deep console section that is removable and I keep my gloves, sun glasses, pens in there, easy access. If you have a small umbrella it may possibly fit in the deep console and should be easy to grab b/c it should be about the depth of the console but still allowing you to close the console top. I also keep a few CD's in the deep console. Hope that helps. Congratulations and enjoy your Equinox. Do you have Sirus XM and Onstar ? I have it and love it as well

i don't have the small box(wish i did!) but just the deep box hole. mine is a 2015, that i got on year closeout. i've almost had it 3 weeks. it came with a 6mo. trial of sirus XM and on-star. it's cold and snowy here, so i really like the auto start feature. it's been a great purchase, so far. i had a really old car, so i'd be happy with about anything! i'm glad to hear you still like yours.
thanks for info.![]()

Oh yes, I forgot about the auto start feature. I have not used it yet this winter but it's finally cold here now so I will because it is wonderful. It was nice last winter to start the car from inside the house and get into a warm car. You will love it !

I'm planning to test drive one soon so I'm going to pay close attention to the 'black hole'. I'll ask the salesman if other people have expressed any displeasure with the interior.

I got a chev equinox the first year they came out - maybe 2005, and they advertised that space as being where to put your purse. At that time the center consol lifted up to get under there. Anyway, I would put my purse down in there and loved it because the purse stayed there and wasn't rolling around on the passenger seat or floor. Also if I decided to lock my purse in the car for some reason instead of carry it , you couldn't see it from outside. However, I have never been one to keep junk in my car so I did not need that space for anything else. All my necessities were either in my purse or inside the consol.Could you put a basket or something down in there?
