My local library now is open until 8pm.We have been open until 7pm for 2 yrs,now it has been extended.I guess I should be glad I am employed,but it sure makes a very long day for me.I start my first job at 10am and work until 8 pm 3 days a week.My eyelids start to get heavy around 630 and then the yawning starts.With winter coming,it will be dark by 4 which will really make it depressing for me.Dont mind me,just doing a little venting.

That's great that your library is open later.  The reason I switched to an ereader is because my library closed several locations a few years ago.  The one closest to me was so overwhelmed that all the parking lot spaces were taken.

@smoochy I work at a bar and grill during the day,and circ clerk at the library.I ve been employeed at both places 40 yrs.Am thinking,Id love to cut back,but then get cold feet

What a long time to work two jobs! You have my admiration. That takes a lot of motivation and stamina. Hugs.

I worked Graveyard Shift for many years: Midnight to 8am. Back in those years, sleeping during the hours was the norm, not working on hot machines.

What hours I slept varied by what I chose to do during the morning and afternoon hours. Work on my race cars/search for parts, or sleep. Get busy and next thing I knew, it was dark outside and I still hadn't slept.

My eyes stayed open, but working around men that slept on breaks and lunch, sure didn't make things any easier. And I was/am a guy that gets by easily on 4-5  hours of sleep, not 8-10 hours.

I worked around Acid, and they had a special cold water fountain by our machines. It had 3 nozzles, 1 on each side to shoot water into or around your eyes, and another to shoot water on your forehead. Get a little sleepy? Would stick my head into the fountain and "let 'er rip". Sure helped on the many zero sleep days I had before heading to work.  

Gotta eat and pay my bills !! I hear ya!

our library is open 12n to 8p, Tues. and Thurs. Some branches are open on sunday, during the school year.
