Thank you so much! I love a good docu about our state history. That's right up my alley b/c I studied SW Native American history in college. Fascinating!
I missed the show from today on PBS. But it will air again on March 17. I'll try to find it online and watch it before then.

I'm looking at my DirecTV schedule and it's not showing. On my desktop I can't find it either and I don't have a smart phone or tablet to load that app. I'll have to wait until they air it again on TV, March 17.

@dancingwoman @SilleeMee I'll look forward to watching this probably this evening. Hwy 550 is the Million Dollar Hwy., right? It runs across Sandoval County where I live about 4 miles from my house. When I first rode the MDH as a child, it wasn't paved and of course not even a hint if a guardrail. I made the whole trip in the floorboard of the car. Since then, I've driven it many times as it's a boulevard compared to what it was then.
I've heard it called one of the most dangerous roads in America but right now, I'd worry most about avalanches than the road.

The Million Dollar Hwy is the stretch of 550 between Ouray and Silverton specifically. It's high in the mountains and it cost a fortune to build...thus the name.

Rumor has it that the Million Dollar Hwy may have gotten that name b/c when they made the road some say it covered the hoards of gold beneath the road in them there hills.

Or that it originally was gravelled with rock that had gold in it. Many stories abound.

@Kachina624 @SilleeMee This 550 is heading south up Farmington hill. If you took it, it would go Farmington NM. DW
