Hello, friends and welcome to apple1964.

Love that polar bear doing his happy dance, Anu! I know you are thankful to see the weekend come. No work or classes. Hope you can get some rest and that your Nan has now completely recovered from the stomach bug. So much sickness here, too, but Gretchen was released to come home on Wed. Still very weak and receiving no visitors. We have been sending chicken soup with rice and other light dishes to her and her husband. She said she really didn't think she would survive this pneumonia and was so thankful to the good care she received. Especially from the nurses in the hospital.

We have also learned that Curtis has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and is on two different kinds of meds to help with his symptoms. His wife is looking into in home care assistance for the future. Not needed yet, since he is much calmer on the meds. She, with the help of her adult children are helping him to manage. I thank you all for the prayers- mine are with each of you and your loved ones, too.

My slippers arrived this morning- both pair fit! I'll take my friend's over to her after dinner. It's nice (for here) today. Sunny and in the 30s. I have placed my order for the Cuddl Duds and if they don't work out for me.. meaning too hard for me to get into and out of, I'll give them to Geri. She had no mobility issues like me, thankfully.

Joy, I hope Ms Sophie's test results come back okay. I know she is getting up there, in cat years, just like our Smoky. So happy you will finally get to visit the holy land! Did you enjoy Victoria? So far I think it's getting better as it goes along. I'm watching KnightFall on the History Channel, too. Some graphic violence there, naturally, but kind of intriguing.

Snappy, best wishes for good news at your urologist app't today. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the infection has finally bit the dust? I know you will forever treasure that photo of your dear sister holding your great granddaughter. How did I miss that Shirley's grandaughter was having a baby, too? Old eyes.. and I confess, TIRED eyes, too. Been reading the ebooks, as well as quilting at night while watching TV. My life being so glamorous, you know. 😉 CONGRATULATIONS! That is such happy, renewing news for Shirley and the whole family. Then soon, the arrival of another GGD for you. Your family is growing by leaps and bounds, bless them all!

MsLomo, I'm thinking of you and already praying for your safe round trip, with the very best results. I'm sure I will check back here again before you leave, but just in case.. Here's my ((HUG)) to  take with you.

And a safe, blessed weekend to all! 💗

That's it, @LurkyLoo...... I have been too tired to post in the evenings after work/classes, but reading your posts here, and praying accordingly for each of your needs. Just want you ladies to know. So thankful Gretchen pulled thru and can finish recovering at home. Feel awful for Curtis and his family, but at least he has the official diagnosis now and can be treated.

Nan believes she is fully recovered, but the doctor advised she wait one more week before flying home. I suppose her immune system is still weak and the flu is everywhere. Especially on planes. Then too....... considering what awaits yet back home. Even Mom is not looking forward to that, tho Dad is making progress. I don’t blame her and we're thankful to have them both here.

We got a little snow here - very exciting while it lasted! ❄️ Hope the PJs work out for you. I have never tried the CD brand, but they are awful cute and look so comfy, too.

Hi @snappyfrappy! Hoping you get good news today for Shirley and yourself. Congrats on all the babies!!! What joy and fun shopping awaits you. The Disney Store has such cute things for kids of all ages, including infants. Enjoy!

Love to all..... have a great weekend! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Issy, it's good to hear from you. We got some rain last night. There's a bit of grass starting to show in the back yard. It's in the low 60s here. I'm under my blanket as I type this.

Yes it is raining baby girls. I'm sure our 2 little ones will enjoy family gatherings more since they have each other.

My sister made it through her 3rd chemo. Her doctor is happy about how she is doing. She starts the next round of 7 shots on Monday, and her next chemo is Feb 8. Sometime after that they will do a PET scan to see if the tumors are shrinking. We pray so.

Then another round on the 28th and the last one in March.

DD's  back is getting better. Her mattess is comfortable. She has a low fever and some aches, but has just gone out to do the grocery shopping. She might feel worse tomorrow, so it's better to get it done now.

Glad you keep finding good deals on things you really like.

Hi WaJa, glad the cold weather subdued Ms Sophie.

Hope your DDIL is doing better. I don't know whether or not my sister's new little greatgrand and mine will ever get together. Our families have remained in touch through the years, but we don't see much of them.

My sister made it through round 3 of her chemo and her doctor is pleased with how she is doing. She begins the series of 7 shots on Monday. After the next treatent on Feb 8, she will have a PET scan to see if the tumors are shrinking. Another round on the 28th and the last one in March. After that, I don't know what they will do. But she is hanging in there.

I saw the urologist yesterday. He said I do not have a UTI and that he wants me off Cipro. He prescribed something else to have on hand, but the pharmacist says it's related to pehicillin and i'm allergic to that. So I'm supposed to call the doc on Monday to talk with him about this. I was really shocked that  I don't have an infection. I have the symptoms.

My DDIL will have knee replacement surgery on Feb. 5th. They are going out to dinner tonight with DD#1 and her hubby. He had that surgery last year and can tell her things about it and answer questions. Her boss will likely want her back to work way before she should be.

It's cool out here and a little windy. Lots of sushine. Good to see you.

apple1964, welcome to the thread! Please feel free to post anytime. We would love to get to know you.

Lurky, so glad that Gretchen is at home, and that she had good care in the hospital. That's not always the case. Praying for her healing and strength.

It's tragic that Curtis has Alzheimers. Glad his wife is thinking ahead for the time when she might need in home assistance. Such a sad thing. And they are so young.

Glad your slippers arrived and are what you like. I love cuddl duds. Wore a pair of the fleece pants to the doc yesterday. They are very light weight and nice and toasty warm.

I was really certain I have a UTI, but the doctor says no. And he wants me off Cipro. He's concerned about the risk of a "super" bug and not being able to treat it. He wants me to have any future tests done with a catheter, but I can't just call him and go in for that. It has to be through the PC doc and an authorization and then wait for an appointment. You know how that is. I will see my PC doc next month and find out what he has to say about all of this. I'm having more shortness of breath. Had another bout of night sweat last night, not as bad as last year, but I don't know what's wrong.

DD#2 has a fever and some aches, but is out doing the grocery shopping.

Take care of yourself, stay warm and dry and come back soon,

Hello, Anu, glad you had a little snow. Must be so beautiful. We had a little rain, and the grass is beginning to appear. It's in the low 60s.

So grateful that your Nan is all better and eager to go home. Of course you will miss her a lot. Hope your mom and dad stay well. So glad they are with you, and that you all seem to get along well.

Thank you for praying for my sis and me. She is very brave. Had a little nausea yesterday and today, but it's to be expected and it's apparently not too bad. Her doc is pleased with how she is doing. So hoping the scan willl show that the tumors are shrinking or better yet, gone. I don't know whether or not she has seen her newest little GGdaughter.

That little one looks just like my niece, her grandma.

A good Monday to you, Snappy. I don't know why the weekends still seem to fly by so quickly, even though I've been retired for so long now. Went to my old church yesterday and it was nice to see some that still live in the neighborhood, but many were out sick. I don't know what I did, if anything, but my left foot is throbbing today and too stiff to bend when trying to walk. Just the RA shifting about, I guess.

How is your DD? Could be she has what you've suffered with- respiratory infection that made you cough so. Certainly hope it's not the flu. The weather here is so fickled and maybe making things worse with that. Today it's going up into the 40s- tomorrow the 50s with rain. Here in the city, following a big water main break from the recent frigid temps, sink holes opened up. They've had to condemn several townhouses due to that, so those residents have been ordered out. No idea where they'll go. 😟

Heard from our dear friend, Hilo by email who has not been on the computer much lately. Her digestive issues continue, causing her discomfort to sit and type, bless her. Her spirits are good, though and her focus remains on the Lord and the less fortunate in this world. She never fails to inspire me in her faith. I know she is praying for Shirley, as we all are. I'm thankful her 3rd chemo session went well and on schedule. I agree, Shirley is very brave- she has a wonderful, hopeful attitude and that always helps no matter our trials.

If it's not a UTI.. I wonder what is causing your symptoms? Cystitis perhaps? I've never had that, but know a few who suffer with it and it sounds similar, but more severe until treated. Wish you didn't have to wait and jump through the hoops to have this seen to, but yes.. I know exactly how it goes now. Are you running a fever? That always gets worse at night and could cause these sweats and any congestion will settle when we lie down, making it harder to breathe. Wouldn't hurt to tell your cardio dr, though, about these things possibly complicating your conditions. I still use the old standby Vicks VapoRub when I have a cold in my chest. I know it won't cure anything, but it opens me up and helps ease the discomfort- that soreness from coughing. Love my tea with honey, too.

I miss the simple days before I developed the multiple health issues requiring specialists, referrals, etc. Just call up the one GP and he could treat me for whatever was ailing me at the time. Will never see those days again, so we can only do our best with this tedious process. But blessedly, we have a great reunion to look forward to- with liberation from all suffering and sorrows. I'm going to see if an inspirational book that Hilo recommended is available for my Kindle. All about Heaven from the biblical view. If I can find it, I know of a few terminal neighbors who may be uplifted by it, too.

Take care, dear and I will return to check on you and all our friends here soon. Wish I could send some chicken soup for you and your DD.

Love to All!

❤️🙏❤️

Hi Lurky, it so happens that DD just had chicken soup! So I should thank you for it.

She's still sick. It is the flu. She didn't get a shot. As much as possible, we are staying in separate parts of the house and not using each other's bathrooms. Washing hands, using Clorox wipes and spray on the door handles, appliance handles, light switches, etc.

Her fever comes and goes and she's either freezing or hot accordingly. Aches, cough,

sweats. She has a sub today and for the next 2, if may be that she won't be able to return to work this week. Not if she has a fever, ad she's weak.

You know all about the insurance for us old folks. I put a call into the urologist as he asked, and am waiting for him to return it. I don't know what he will do about an antibiotic. The one he prescribed is related to penicillin and I'm allergic to that. I did get the Uribel filled. My insurance won't cover it, and it's $1 per pill, but not needed often and worth it when it is. I had 2 cystoscopes over the last few years, nothing wrong there. And kidney ultra sounds. Nothing wrong there. I don't know what the symptoms mean, but the Uribel will help.

I appreciate haring about HiLo. Sorry she's not tip top, but she's trusting the Lord and hanging in there. One day at a time.

Scary about the sink holes! It would be just awful to have no place to live. Makes me very thankful for our comfortable house. It's cool out here. In the 60s. I know that must sound warm to you, but it's our version of winter. We might get a little more rain before the week is over. The lawn is starting to green up a bit.

I remember having Vicks put on my chest, and doing that for our kids. Then a warm piece of flannel pinned to the pajama top. It was comforting and did help clear up the stuffy nose. I can't even imagine what our new bodies will be like, but amazingly wonderful, of course.

My DDIL is having knee replacement surgery on the 5th. My SIL had that last year and did very well. The four of them are going to have dinner together on Saturday so he can talk with her about how it went for him and sort of what to expect.

My sis is having the series of 7 shots that help boost her immune system in preparation for the next treatment on the 8th. After that, a PET scan to see if the tumors have shrunk. Two more treatments after that. Then I don't know what they will do, but I imagine they will decide that based on the scan results.

Good to see you. Hope you have a nice week.

Hi to everyone..

Hi Snappy.  Sorry to hear that DD#2 has the flu.  I don't think that she will be able to go to work this week.  This thing just seems to linger on.  I had more of a head cold, but I was still miserable for almost 3 weeks!  The two of you have to be very careful right now.

I am feeling good, and trying to get more rest and drink more water.  There is a business function after work on Thursday that I should attend, but I think that I am going to skip it.  There will be lots of shaking hands, and eating--no thank you for now......

Take care, dear lady.
