cute t !!! So good to hear from you and hear your news! You all must have been terrified about your daughter who suffered a stroke. Thankfully 🙏 she's not suffering any effects. WHEW!

As for the great-grand who took off in the golfcart -- I have to laugh! Snappy would say he's a "caution" Smiley Very Happy  --  Could that be Sawyer? Is he 1 already? What a handful! Smart AND fast on his feet ... uh oh! And you've got another blessing on the way. Great-grands going off to college with scholarships ... I very much enjoy hearing about your family.

Things are kind of tough here lately, but I am hanging in. DH's ongoing health issues, ER visits, hospitalizations, rehab, etc. I grab a power nap whenever I can; they are wonderful -- very refreshing.

I hope all of you are hanging in, too.

Snappy, I am thinking about you and Shirley and DD#2. I hope Shirley is pain-free. I hope DD is finished with the school year and can sleep in every day -- no big summer projects ... hopefully, just R & R and savoring every day. K in the fall should be better, and I believe this-coming school year will be her last? Then you and she can go to lunch during the week, maybe to a Marie Callender restaurant. I'd like to go to one someday -- and order a chicken pot pie. I look at them in the grocery store freezer and never get one because the sodium is sky-high. Some day, though, I just may throw caution to the wind and watch my ankles expand while I'm eating it -- ha!

Heart and 🙏 to all of you ....

A good Thursday to good friends! So nice to relax and read your posts after my shift at the gift shop. It's only 67° here today, with a chance of more showers. Nice to air the apartment out- I cooked corned beef with cabbage and red potatoes yesterday. So it really needed it. ☺️

Anu, I just love your new dress- that's silk, isn’t it? Such a fun design on those shoes! I really love the dress Agnes wore for Memorial Day, too. Those colors together appeal to me and the style is classic, I haven’t purchased anymore clothing or shoes lately. Replaced my old roasting pan and had to get a new coffee maker. They sure don't last like they used to.

Gwen and her fiancé took me with them to the Pokonos last weekend. Oh my, Steve's brother and family have such a nice vacation home there. They took me all around sight-seeing, so I wanted to treat them all to dinner. Didn’t totally blow my budget, but did put a good dent in it. 😁 Well worth it, though. Gwen and Steve will marry here in our big church in August! They're looking for a house now, and depending on how that goes.. they may postpone honeymoon travels until later. I think that wise, since they plan to do a lot of traveling before they have children anyway. U.S. travel, that is. As for the Dominican Republic and such places..

Not interested in the least.

Cute, I'm very sorry your youngest daughter had a stroke- and on her birthday, too! So thankful she has recovered so well and kept her happy-go-lucky attitude. That Sawyer.. 😅 He's going to be some kind of great athlete or something! God bless you and yours and don’t be a stranger here.

MsLomo, so good of you to drop by, with all on your plate. I love a good pot-pie, too! They make them from scratch downstairs. Delicious! I do sometimes buy Marie Callender's frozen ones- or Stouffer's. I like the one with broccoli instead of peas. I don't notice that my ankles swell when I eat them, but I do know you're right about the sodium. That's in all the canned and frozen foods. Keep hanging in there, dear, and rest whenever possible. 🙏

Ladies, I've been watching Pure and I really hope the young boy that the drug cartel is holding won't become brainwashed into joining them!

Selah, what a snappy car your husband chose! I hope it lasts him a good, long while. When does your step-granddaughter arrive? I bet she'll enjoy visiting the shops on the reservation and many more local attractions besides the trip to Williamsburg.

Rowan, thank you for mentioning the Biotin. My dr has me take two of the chews daily for other reasons. I just buy the NatureMade brand and my levels stay good now. All this wide-spread flooding is very troubling. I know the produce and farm fed meats are sure to sky-rocket in prices. Many of our farmers are suffering, too. I'm so glad for your family, as well as the happy couple that Daniel and Harper will marry there in NC! Winona is overjoyed and she told me all about her wedding gifts. 😍 I'm going to make that Chicken Cacciatore soon! Maybe for Sunday dinner.

Joy, I'm greatly relieved to hear your trip and business with Cynthia went smoothly. Prayers answered! Hoping with all my heart that they're collectively answered on behalf of our dear friends, too. 😢 You know my heart is breaking with one especially and I hardly know what else to say at this point. Asking for a miracle! Take care and rest up until that respiratory infection is gone. You'll need the energy for your upcoming travels with the girls and their families.

Snappy, dear.. I don't know how you’re truly feeling now, but you sound much better in your more recent posts. I pray you are! So good of your oldest daughter to take you to the IDS. How did it go? If you don't really trust this dr, how about the one who filled in for her recently who suggested inflammation and gave you advice for something that actually helped with that? Shouldn’t he be also covered by your insurance plan? I know you dread to start all over again with someone new, but at least your records with test results would already be there in offices. I so hope you can attend the party at your son’s unless of course, it's too hard on you. Just hate for you to have to miss out on time with Star and Sunny. Do let us know how you and Shirley are when you can. I constantly pray, but confess to my lingering concern, too.

Blessings over you all and much love,

Ruth Ann

Hellooo, dear friends and happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸

Been a very busy work week and TGIF. Luke and I are going out to dinner and a movie alone. A rare treat! So I need to get ready shortly.

Wanted to thank you all who liked Luke's new vehicle. Yes, it's a crossover and so far, so good. No complaints, other than he keeps cracking his head getting in and out. 😜 The old one was taller, with more head room. Old habits die hard. Good luck to Issy during her search for the perfect vehicle!

LOL at Lurky's gif! Who is that man? I know, but can't place him ... We know it's not Steve! Staying away from the D.R. sounds like a solid plan to me, too. I suspect that resort has been replacing the label brand booze in the bottles with bathtub moonshine swill. Cuts their costs, as they poison people. (No voyages on any vessel called the Titanic for me either, Anu! What was he thinking by naming it that? Did he call it "unsinkable," too? SMH like Lurky's man.) Congrats to Steve and Gwen on nailing down the wedding date!!! Good on them for treating you to a weekend away, too. My step GD will be here for most of Aug! She has said she wants to volunteer to help Tanya with the children on the res'. ❤️

Congrats to the cute family on the announcement of another great grandbaby! Your lovely family is growing by leaps and bounds. Such a blessing! Best wishes to your GGD as she begins college, too.

A power nap sounds good to me about now, MsLomo! Hope I don't doze off during the movie. God bless and keep you as you lovingly care for your DH.

I'll be back soon to catch up with you ladies. Have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Father's Day to all of the dads in your lives.

-Selah 😘 🙏

🤠 Glad you got a giggle, Selah! You probably didn't recognize him without his famous mustache.

Though I always preferred him (and most any man) without it. Mustaches always look rather sinister to me. C.B. was one of my favorite minimalist actors, who was born right here in PA.

It's MsLomo for the win!

Marcia, if you happen to drop by, I recall you were searching for good tee-shirts. There's a thread in Fashion about one of Martha's that I ordered yesterday:

Thought it might interest you. Missing you (and Mike) on D. Hoping all is well with you both and the babies.

I hope that all of you ladies are having a nice weekend. Snappy may be at her son's enjoying the party. 🤞 This will be our last day of sunshine for a week, so I'm heading out to a flower show with Gert. Showers with thunderstorms are predicted for us beginning tomorrow through Friday. Hoping for no more power outages.

With love to all,

Ruth Ann

Hello, dear ones and a blessed Sunday to all. 💐

4868BEA0-E35D-4A12-80BC-60712D035869.jpeg

To all the dads in your life, and sweetest memories of those who have preceded us to Heaven.

I'm still not 100% over this sinus and ear infection. I got an antibiotic on Monday and returned to work on Wednesday, since I had no more fever and chills. I had wondered about the adenovirus that, as Agnes mentioned, is going around here, because of the very high fever and severe teeth-chattering chills. I still do wonder since I work with the public and this started differently, but since the antibiotic seems to be slowly helping, I guess it's not viral.

I'm glad that hubby wanted to stay home today and grill steaks. The kids and their families will stop by this evening after our son-in-law and both daughter-in-laws spend the day with their dads ~ as they should be. Will helped CB (Becky's brother) with the planning of the upcoming auction to benefit the school yesterday. Thanks again to Agnes and Darrell for chipping in with assistance, too!

Like Lurky, we're expecting more stormy weather next week, but that's nothing new for us this time of year. Lake effect thunderstorms, along with systems moving through... I hope you enjoyed the flower show yesterday! Did you buy any? With all the rain, we have an explosion of blooms this year. Suz, Jodie, Yolanda, Becky and Agnes cut as many as we can, but I need to do some serious thinning soon. Now that Gracie is out of school, she can help me. Thankfully she still loves gardening.

Dear Rowan, rest assured that I'm praying for the situation with Nosh and his troubled GF. I agree with you that what has become to be known as narcissistic personality disorder (along with many others) are rising rapidly. As is rage ~ wrath of all types. Something is happening to the human race globally, as sure as the earth itself moans.

Thank you for thinking of my brother, Eddie. He will work another full year, then retire next Sept. He has me scouting around for a house, or property to build on here near us. He seems to be doing okay, but still keeps to himself most of the time. I always invite him to KS-Fest (and everything else) but he's introverted, so crowds exhaust him. To him, our group would amount to a crowd. My sister and her hubby will be joining us for some activities on the weekends. Their vacation time falls later ~ in July.

Anyway, Eddie lives just about 15 minutes west of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. He felt nothing, and by all rights, a quake that size and shallow should’ve been felt there. He told me that the big dam on the Cuyahoga river is failing, too, and there's been a lot of talk about the salt mines there potentially collapsing under the water weight. Those extensive salt mine tunnels run under Cleveland and Lake Erie. Thankfully, the epicenter was nowhere near the mines. They start immediately west of Brown's Stadium and head about a mile or so north, under the lake. There have been reports of subsidence in the mines for a few years now, and tours to the public have been closed. It’s been said that should the mines fully collapse, the overall depth of the lake could fall as much as a foot. The salinity could also pose a problem to the fish and wildlife. 😔

Oh, goodness... I don't mind hosting Cynthia's wake, when the time comes, but the singing. I just don't know. She asked me to sing Amazing Grace and didn’t specify any accompanying instruments, or the choir. I thought of Gracie maybe playing along on piano, but she's not very accomplished yet. If I'm too upset at the time, I will hire someone and pray that my aunt forgives me. I don’t know why she asked me! Budgeting maybe. She knows I planned both of my parents funeral services (she was there for both)... but I certainly didn’t sing at either. She could be remembering back when I was a child and she taught me many hymns and gospel songs, as we gardened together at her family home. Suz' recommended that I make a recording (after much practice) to play at the funeral. That would be better than attempting it live on such a hard day.

Yes, I'd dearly love to bring her home with me, but she has 5 specialists there to see regularly, and dialysis now, too. She would rather live with her youngest daughter, but she still has to work full time. The older one that she's with is suffering burn-out, I think. Not only because of caring for her mother, but lots of stress in her life besides. She's becoming dour ~ even bellicose ~ when I don't recall her being anything but pleasant in the past. She seemed actually relieved to have me spend time with her mom, including our short trip to LA. She needed a break. The thing is, Cynthia has been suggesting a home nurse aide whom she would pay for herself. Her daughter would rather keep the money... and complain. They don't need the extra money, you understand. I think my aunt's wishes for her own care should be respected, but I have no say there. She asked me to give it to the Lord, so I have.

Thank you and all who are praying for her, and our absent friends here and their loved ones. 💜

Dear Snappy, I'm thankful to hear that Star's mommy is feeling a bit better, though still lacks much appetite. How I remember the morning sickness, which was different each time. With DD, our middle child; I was sick most all day and night. The smell of bacon or coffee would really set me off! Ordinarily I love both, but DD to this day can't stand coffee, and eats very little meat other than chicken and some seafood. She and her hubby have decided to adopt through our church's program (as Marcia did), so she's putting in her resume and filling out applications both at the college there to teach marine biology, and at the local research lab. I'm thrilled for them! I believe her hubby would most like a boy, but it doesn’t seem to matter to DD either way. She said one of each would be ideal, spaced apart about 2 years. I don’t know if she plans to give birth later (after better established in her new position) or not. I'm also thankful she won’t be traveling the world by ship so much anymore. Hubby and I always worry so. Soon now you'll know the gender of your next GGB! So exciting either way, but I'm rooting for a boy this time. 🤞🏻

Did you make it to the party and get to hand out those gifts yourself? I hope so! At that age, your precious girls change so rapidly.

Heaven knows your IDS's mantra is both demoralizing and a bit insulting. Yes, we get that there’s an anatomical problem helping to foster the infections, but what to do? There must be safe treatments to help you manage the symptoms, as you are far from the only one suffering from the same. It's not right either that you're forbidden from seeing your eye doctor of choice. They want to find the cheapest rates available, and it's often inferior care with longer waits. It can't hurt that we pray over it ~ for our nation as a whole. Just have my doubts that there will be mass repentance as there was in Ninevah. Righteousness exalts a nation... has to come from within all, regardless of leadership or anything else. How easy it is to forget ourselves and Whom we serve. Deep down, we all know right from wrong. You are absolutely right that this world grows darker by the hour... the Light will shine all the brighter and no one who loves being within that Light will miss this mess of our own creation. We always had the free will choice in which to follow after. I am no saint, or in any way special, but the older I get; the more I loathe sin and its wages. I'm weary of it and I often grow impatient while waiting. Yet another temptation. His will, not mine, in His own time. What a beautiful, inspired thought from your Bible teacher on the Tree of Life! It certainly proved to be so, for all who accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Can't have one without the other...

NO, of course you aren’t ready to leave your wonderful family! Doubt any of us ever will be, and that could be one purpose that suffering fulfills. Both for us and our loved ones, but I pray such suffering, if it must come, is far in the future for you yet. It has always been such a privilege to know you, and this place without you... I can't even imagine that! My heart would be too heavy. I'd have to stay away. These conditions you endure now are miserable, but not fatal in and of themselves. That's why I so resent the IDS's fatalistic approach ~ as soon as I heard it. You may, too, have to ask the Lord for courage to try something new, with your DDs there to support you. I'm so glad the school year is over for your youngest!!! 🤗

I'm so sorry that today, Father's Day, is so hard for you and your children. I feel the pangs, too... Miss my daddy so much and I cry in private, then carry on for the dads yet in my life. Good fathers are so vital to civilization and often don’t get the credit they deserve in this era. Of course there are bad fathers (and mothers), too, as there always have been. Mostly damaged people with no parenting skills, or even tolerance. My parents (and grandparents) were as far from perfect as I am, but they did the best they could with what skills they had to work with. I'm thankful I wasn't aborted or an orphan and I choose to love them all, after learning through the Lord what true forgiveness is, and why it's imperative if I hope to be among those saved by grace. You have raised incredible children of faith, who will naturally mourn, but find their strength through that faith in the One who will never, ever abandon them. 💜

Hoping with all my heart that your news on Shirley will be promising. She has shown such courage ~ such strength of character through this most difficult time. I'm praying for her children and grandchildren, too. Such a tough battle for the whole family, including you. Looking forward to your update.

Love & God Bless,

~Joy 💐
