What beautiful tributes! You ladies write so eloquently.
Marcia, the scones recipe ... oh, my. Someone told me that the word "scone" is pronounced "scon" (not with a long "o"). Is this accurate? However pronounced, I would like one (or more) RIGHT NOW!
Issy, I may not be able to post tomorrow, so I want to wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY on April 27! May you have a terrific day and, of course, some CAKE!

@HiLo, Ruth Ann wanted me to tell you that she read your messages here on Barb's gentle passing. She is so sorry for your loss, since you were her most devoted friend. She will post here soon with you. Her iPad and Kindle both jump around and loads very slow here right now. Ever since they put the Royal Sweeps banner up top. Joy is trying to help her with that again. She is praying for your best healing in the Lord and sends her love.
Bless her kind soul.....she sent me that ingredient I needed for the recipe: Williams chili powder, for any others interested. I made that, fresh tossed salad and corn muffins for Darrell to have while I'm away for the weekend. Also made 3 blueberry pound cakes - one for him to share with the guys at work. The other two I'm taking to Selah's. I'll share the recipe below.
Ruth Ann sends you her love, too, Snappy! I'm so sorry that Shirley is one of the many who suffers PTSD following the chemotherapy and oral hormones. Many continue to show symptoms up to ten years later. That and "chemo brain." Isn't it interesting that her oncologist suggested a vegetarian diet? I wonder if that could help with the PTSD, or just her weight/overall health. I know that while I was pregnant I couldn't stand even the scent of a few of my favorite foods. Went away after Jacob was born. I suppose those hormones and chemicals will stay in Shirley's system for a long time. I'll be praying that June scan comes back clean.
Most all of my relatives on my mother's side of the family are heavy. There are some diabetes, too, so I really should take care. Becky (a nutritionist and geriatric nurse) explained how carbs turn to sugar, etc. My primary concern remains staying alive and well enough to take care of my son. I know Shirley definitely relates to that, though she has her daughters to help her son whenever that time comes. Doesn't help that I'm an only child.....but at least now I've been assured that Darrell's family will be there for him.
Glad your back pain is less severe and I hope your PCP gets to the bottom of the UTI once and for all. Thanks for the well wishes during our visit with Selah and Rowan! I hope you have a beautiful weekend, too. Maybe your DD will hang your new chimes. They will be so pretty with the lighted birdhouse!
Joy, so sorry that Preds has cancer and must begin chemo. I'll be praying for her complete healing. TY for letting us know. She is such a kind poster.
Marcia, be sure to txt how it went tonight. Even if just your best hunch! 🙏 So glad Spring has arrived in MT! 😊
Love to All,
Agnes ❤️

Blueberry Pound Cake
Ingredients:
3/4 cup softened butter
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups regular sugar
3 eggs (lightly beaten)
zest of 1 lemon
juice of 1 lemon
1 cup Frozen Blueberries (Tossed in flour)
1 3/4 cups Plain / All purpose flour (sieved)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 300F. Grease and line your baking loaf pan. ***Please note, if using a Bundt pan, be sure to grease it very well as it can be hard to get the cake out of such a shaped pan.
2. Get all your ingredients ready, i.e zest and juice the lemon, sieve the flour, and add the salt and baking powder to the flour, etc.
3. Start with making the cake batter by creaming the butter and sugar until a pale light color. Place the blueberries in a bag and add a couple of tablespoons of flour. Give it a toss so the blueberries are coated. This will stop them from sinking to the bottom during baking.
4. Slowly add the beaten eggs to the mixer, on a low speed setting, a bit at a time. If the mixture starts to curdle or split, add a spoonful of your sieved flour, keep on adding the eggs, and a bit of flour if necessary, until all the eggs are added.
5. Add half the milk with half of the flour, keeping the mixer on a slow speed. Once combined, add the lemon juice, and zest, the rest of the milk and flour. Right at the end, fold in the blueberries.
6 Transfer the cake mixture to the greased and lined loaf pan. Place in the oven for 1hr and 20 minutes. Test if done by placing a skewer in the center of the cake and make sure it comes out clean. Every oven is different so cook times will vary a little.
***Please note, if using a Bundt pan, cook time is 1 Hour 10 minutes.
7. Have a cup of tea and wait! Allow to cool. Store in an airtight container. This cake is best eaten the following day, although it doesn’t usually last that long!

@MsLomo - I really should know better than to sign in here late at night. Knowing (!) decadent recipes lurk. 😋 Been waiting, waiting to hear from Marcia by text, but nothing yet. Dozed off briefly watching Mysteries of the Castles on the Travel channel. Wide awake again ... I'll blame this angry storm ⛈ cracking and raging overhead, but a trip down to the kitchen will be necessary now ... or I’ll never get back to sleep. There will be no scones waiting - or blueberry pound cake until Agnes arrives. What a tease she is! 😉 I do hope you and yours are keeping well down there. Thank you for the birthdate reminders! I want to get Issy's in now, too, since Fridays are always so hectic for me.
To @Issy379! 💙
May it be as beautiful as you are, dear friend! 🌟

Joy, I'm deeply sorry to hear about your friend and our fellow Q member, Preds being diagnosed with cancer. I certainly will add her to my prayer list.
The royal wedding is slated for May 19th, or rather ... 19, May as the British say. I always enjoy the hats! They are indeed a sweet looking couple and I wish them the very best. I know I couldn’t stand the kind of public pressure they are and will continue to be under.
No worries! Selah hasn’t thrown her back out with prepping for your visit, though Winona did say: “Are we really ready, do you think, for Martha II?” 😂 Our father still doesn’t know who Martha I is, so he looks on puzzled. All he cares to know is that the bees are coming and he has MUCH to show Will and Reuben. Oh, boy.
@HiLo - I hate it so that your hands and wrists suffered such damage, since you need them ... for everything! 😔 I hope the PT is successful is restoring full use with no pain and stiffness We so appreciate you letting us know about Barb. I couldn’t find an obit either. Doubt there is one. She had no other close family and very few friends. I do pray the house sale, or whatever is determined, will go smoothly. Only peace and healing for Sam, Zach and those four grandchildren.
Snappy - hope you are feeling better after seeing your doctor. My mother, to our knowledge, doesn’t suffer with PTSD, but still becomes very anxious when it's time to run tests ... and then waiting for the results. Her treatments, though, were very different from Shirley’s. We will not cease from praying.
Goodnight, sweet kindred!
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend! 🤗

This one is for Issy - our Birthday Girl today! 🌺
Enjoy and celebrate all weekend! 😍
With Love,
Ruth Ann ❤️
