@agnesann ~ first of all, Thank You for keeping our asparagus cut back during our trip. Second of all, Thank You for finding great ways to use them in recipes I've never even thought of! I generally roast them with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and pour a bit of melted butter over them. Love that SW song ~ what a kick for Friday the 13th! 😂 Soon your Jacob's sheep will be judged and I’m looking forward to attending. I will have to lug the real camera to the 4H event. We’ll need prime photos rather his win or not, but they certainly should! How many sheep come when called by name or in answer to a whistle? They obey better than our dogs... well for me anyway.
Dear @LurkyLoo ~ your miniature rose sounds beautiful! I hope it does well there. Can you take it out on one of the patios some days when you sit outside? I have an old sterling rose bush that climbs up the side of my gardening shed each year. When I was deadheading it, though... I noticed a lot of deadwood and I fear it's just about met its lifespan. I'll replace it with the same, if so. We just removed the apple tree Momma planted with James that was destroyed recently. It was not in the orchard, but the back yard... I’ve decided to replace that with Momma's very favorite ~ a white dogwood. It'll be about 70' in front of my favorite weeping willow. I would choose to be buried under that, if it were legal. May have my ashes interred there, as who would be the wiser in years to come? As a child, I so loved to play beneath my grandma Nell's willow tree. Like some kids love a tent, I guess. It was my own private oasis, as she kept it trimmed right at the ground. It was huge! Much bigger than ours so far. I set up “house” under there and would even spend the night beneath those soft branches that whispered in the summer night breeze. Later on, I also had my first kiss under there. 😘
I'm watching Howard's End! A very good cast, I think and I love that period.
Not so sure that William would always agree on striking gold with me, but I Thank You for thinking so! Your hubby did, too... What a pity he was too blind to see it at the time. His loss!
When Lindsay learned how to better express herself, she stopped the screeching for the most part. Her voice was very shrill for a long time. I found that if she was having a temper tantrum; the calmer I remained, the better. I would take her out of any public venue and speak softly, so she'd have to hush to hear me. We would not return until we reached an understanding that we do not disrupt others in restaurants, movies, etc. If she was screaming in demand of wanting a particular toy or book that her brother had, for instance... She wouldn’t get it even when he was done with it for 15 mins or so. Way up on a shelf it went, regardless of the hissy fit to follow. Made sure she knew why she lost the privilege temporarily. “You've lost it now because you won’t let your brother enjoy his time with it.” Then there was the general teaching of inside and outside voices and appropriate tone later. Never an excuse for rudeness.
No, I don’t see any point in pretenses... too much work, and for what? Everybody can see right through those ~ Jesus most of all. I would rather be judged by the world while standing with Him, rather than standing with this world and be judged by Him. We all know that thankfully His standards are very different than the world’s. Besides, if you don’t allow people to know the authentic you; how can they ever come to love you for who you really are? Many won’t anyway, and that's okay, too. That's expected.
Bless you for thinking that a good pic. If ever I had a bad hair day, that was one for sure! That's how mine looks when I wash it and go. Have to sometimes when duty calls. Mine is unruly like yours and some damp or humid days, it's not worth the bother to fuss with it much anyway. My crows feet are growing and the gray hairs are multiplying. Such is life. You are precious to me and I can’t wait to get there for our visit! We have all the foodie plans for our afternoon worked out. You won’t have to do a thing ~ just relax and enjoy! 😍
Dear @snappyfrappy ~ how was the big party?! I hope the shrieking was kept to a minimum... Bless her heart! As long as her parents reward it, she won’t learn any other way. But right now, until her vocabulary increases, she is getting her point across. When the new baby comes, she'll learn to share. A good thing!! Tacos and tutus ~ how adorable is that?! I so hope you get to attend the shower. I'm wishing you the best at the DMV, too.
A hot tub sure does sound good... those walk-in baths are nice, too. I visit with a lady who has one and she loves it! Has the hose attachment to rinse her hair and the tub itself after she gets out. One drawback is waiting for the water to drain before you can open the door. She had a heater light installed just above, so she doesn’t get cold. They really do think of everything now!
I'm thankful that you and your family had your dear hubby for 58 years, too. What a blessing! Then you'll all see him again and rejoice in eternity ~ the never ending blessing!! I pray your back is feeling better and will check back soon. Love you to bits, dear friend!
~Joy 💜

Happy Tax Day, friends!
Hope none of you got burned too badly. Not a good year for us, in this regard, but we expected it.
Joy, you're more than welcome! Was the least I could do. Yes, I'm depending on you to take the photos in May. I don't have a good camera. My phone takes lousy pics and Darrell bought the expensive camera for the telescope, but it's no good for anything else. He and Jacob enjoy it though, and printing out big pics of the nightsky for their observation nest. I sure hope his sheep win a ribbon, even if not first place. He'll be so disappointed otherwise, and he has worked so hard with them. Driven me half crazy with it some days (and nights) but all we can do now is hope for the best! Oh, and I really hope that Darrell will be off this third shift by then, too. It wrecks most everything when it comes to quality family time. He doesn't sleep well in the daytime, and that's no good - especially for anyone in LE.
Lurky, are you sleeping better and feeling more rested? I hope so! I've been watching Howard's End, too, but I have to say.....all that (bad) piano playing during the dialogue plucks my nerves - as does the young brother. He's not funny to me, if that is the intent. Just annoying! I hope he soon goes back to college. I won't miss him in the least!
Rowan or Selah, please write or post soon. I saw the news footage of the storm damage in your state. Horrible! I'm not familiar enough with NC to know if this happened in your family members areas or not. I'm praying for all those homeless victims there. I still don't know what Survival Sunday was. Color me clueless as usual! But I would love to visit Chimney Rock, The Cove and The Lobster Trap.....as well as those shopping outlets. I'm sure they have children's clothes and shoes, too. Jacob is growing out of everything. I'm hoping I don't! Need more workout clothes for Pilates class, though and could sure use a few new Sunday outfits. I don't see much here that I care for, but do love my Martha Stewart jeans for gardening and such. I'm determined to learn to ride a horse this summer and I think they'll be fine for that, too.
What did the doctor say, Anu?! Worse time to injure yourself with exams coming up, helping with Marian's boys and vacations on the horizon. I haven't heard anything more from or about Hilo yet. I'm assuming no news is good news.
Love back to you, MsLomo and thank you for reminding us of Snappy's actual birthday. I need to start writing these dates down. They refuse to stick in my head! How is your DH doing? Hoping his eyes have healed up well.
We all await the deets on the party, Snappy! I believe this is the day you have the DMV test (though I could be wrong again) so GOOD LUCK! I fear the day my eyesight fails me, since it has never been that great....even as a child, I needed glasses. Have fun at the baby shower! That sounds like one I would enjoy. Especially the taco part!!
My break is ending. Chat more soon, ladies!
With love from Agnes ❤️

Hi Waja61. So glad that you enjoyed your trip, and I really loved hearing about it. What a special time (once in a lifetime). I would love some asparagus right now. I tried to grow it once, but with no luck. Take care.

Hi MsLomo. Good to see you here. I am doing fine, just super busy. I think that I am burning the candle at both ends. I have done a little shopping and I purchased the Iris Apfel own necklace with fragrance and the Asa Rahmati snake ring. I wore the owl necklace last Friday with my Iris Apfel owl coat, and it was a hit. The owl on the necklace is huge---it is simply spectacular. I will get the item numbers later.
Simone and her "gentlemen" seem to be getting along very well. She really likes him and from what she tells me, he is racking up some points, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for remembering my birthday on the 27th. Just a little while to go. Take care. I will return.......

Hi Snappy. Hope that the birthday celebration was wonderful. I am looking forward to hearing all about it, and about the baby-----the little angel.
We have had lots of rain, but it is a nice outside today. Any signs of life on the apricot tree? Take care.

Hi cute, really happy to see you. So it's lawn mower time!
I know you and your hubby both like to do that, but you more so.
Last Friday my hubby would have been 92.
We had a great time on Sunday with the whole family sitting at a round table so we could talk with each other.
The baby was dressed in yellow with another one of her headbands. Her hair is growing now. It's red for sure and maybe wavy. She didn't SCREAM....but she fused when people tried to take her away from sitting by her mommy.
She doesn't like men, other than daddy, and he's only okay if she can't have mommy. He made a funny face at her and she mimiced it exactly which made all of us laugh. We have videos of that. Such fun. GD is looking quite pregnant now. We saw her 3D ultra sounds of her little one. Her nose is different than baby number one but otherwise they look somewhat alike. Amazing how accurate those pictures are.
DD#1 took me to the DMV yesterday. The computers were down so we had to be there for a long time, but I did pass the tests and have my temporary license. So, the Lord said "yes" about continuing to drive if I want or need to.
Tomorrow I have my regular dental checkup. DD will come out again to take me.
My back still hurts quite a bit. Next week I see my PC doc about that and other things.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hi DeLaney, it's so beautiful where you live. Those blue stones are amazing! Never knew anything about them.
Wonder how you will end up using them at your place.
Praying your dad gets the help he needs from that shot and that the side effects to away soon.
Also that you hear from someone about a child in need.
I know there must be many, but it's good that you are content to wait and not desperate. God's timing is always best. Maybe your little one hasn't been born as yet.
I wish I could post the little video of the baby making her funny face at her daddy or anyone who made the same face. She is so beautiful. Those blue eyes are amazing.
She's tall, her mom is 5' 11" and her daddy just over 6 feet, so she could be a tall woman. Wish I could be here to see those little girls grow up.
I'm glad they renewed my driver's license whether or not I do any driving. I can, and that is important.
I think our apricot tree is dead. No sign of life at all, but last night I dreamed that it was covered with flowers.
Take care everyone,
snappy

Hi Rowan and Anu, I'd like to eat at the Lobster Trap.
Really like seafood. Don't care much anymore for meat.
I guess because of the bone spur pressing on my esophagus, I find myself almost choking when I try to eat beef. DD enjoys a good burger now and then. It seems that we are eating our own thing at dinner these days.
Okay with me. I don't do enough to burn off many calories.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. My BD is the 24th. Hubbies was the 13th. He would be 92 if he were here.
I'll be 84. Am thankful I can see and hear without any help.
Grateful to mostly have my wits about me. Can't shake this painful back and it is making it harder for me to get around. I see my PC doc sometime next week.
My sis and niece are coming out on my birthday. Haven't seen her since before she had her chemo, so am anxious to give her a big hug.
The birthday cake is gorgeous! My favorite kind, calorie free! Thank you Anu.
So sorry you hurt your posterior, and hope by now it's feeling better.
I also hope we hear from HiLo sometime soon. Been thinking about her.
Love reading about all of your plans for the get together and the lovely things you will do and see.
An arm chair traveler...that's me.

Hi MsLomo, been thinking about you. Seems I don't get here as often as before. Too many doctor's visits, etc.
But I think of everyone and pray when I remember a need.
Aren't these ladies a bunch of "stunners?". Truly. And the recipes! Oh my goodness, if I had what it takes, I'd be trying out some of them. For sure.
Wouldn't you like to have some of those blue glow rocks?
I would for sure, but it would be up to DD to deal with them, so that won't happen.
I was concerned that the baby would scream for sure on Sunday, but she didn't. She is suddenly very attached to her mommy and fearful of all men, except daddy whom she tolerates if she has to. She cried when they tried to put her in someone else's arms. I just wanted to say "put the poor little thing back in her chair next to her mommy".
But, they got the point. They would point to someone and ask if she wanted that person to hold her and she always shook her head "no" .....alas, even me. Boo. I was so glad they had brought her here the weekend before when I did get to hold her and give her her bottle. That and her mommy are her 2 favorite things right now.
What a little ham. She is a mimic. Love that she is getting hair and it is some shade of red. With her startlingly gorgeous blue eyes, she is a stunning little girl.
Her daddy says she's going to support them. Meaning, working on commercials, and TV, etc.
Glad my driver's license is renewed, although I doubt I'll do much driving. But I can. The Lord gave me the strength I needed to stand when I had to, and I was able to sit to take the written test. Piece of cake. All but one Q were just common sense. Still, I did all that studying. What I learned is that pedestrians, those on motorcycles and bikes and in wheel chairs or motorized scooters, etc., have the right of way. If you ever come across a flock of some sort of animals with a shepherd, you MUST yield the right of way to them. Or a horse drawn carriage. So, be warned....hehe.
Hope you make good headway on your work load.
Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Hello, WaJa, I'm pleased as punch, whatever that means, to see you here. Love reading about your childhood memories and the beauty of the place where you live and agree with others about the lovely picture of you with the camera. Not the way I imagined you, so this is so nice.
If DD wouldn't have a stroke, I'd consider posting my picture, for the shock value if nothing else, but she would...I try to pay attention to her advice and caution.
As I've told others, the baby didn't scream at all, just cried when they tried to force her into someone's arms.
She is a gorgeous child. I enjoy playing the little video of her making the same funny face as her daddy. Her mommy said the photographer loves working with her. No wonder. If she ever shows up on a commercial, maybe I'll get to tell you and you can see her.
You did the right thing with your strong willed daughter.
And it paid off. I don't think this little one will be too happy the first time she sees her mommy holding her little cousin. Oh my.
Thank you for the love...it's coming right back atcha!!
