I had 3 "nightmares" this morning
all about people breaking in my house, or trying to break in

My grandmother had a solution for bad dreams. She told me to think of the most beautiful thing or place you have ever seen.
I’ve done that often when I’m stressed or can’t sleep.
Sometimes I think of sunsets, rainbows beaches, all things from travels and life that’s wonderful and I’ve loved.
I also do tai chi and do it in my mind. The movements are relaxing and you can’t think of the bad dreams or worry.
Maybe sweet memories will work for you.

I like Krypto's suggestion of positive thoughts and distraction of tai chi moves in her mind. For years I swished down a mountain in new powered snow. The grace of skiing. A wonderful distraction.
When we have dreams -- it doesn't hurt to pay attention. Break in? Is your home secure? Do you feel unsafe? Why. Sometimes it's indigestion. Sometimes we're warning ourselves.

It was so weird to have 3 different, but same nightmares this morning.
Nothing I found online so far helps.
I know dreams are aren't what they seems

Dreams deal with symbols, so instead of the dream warning of a litteral break in to your home, it could mean that someone is trying to come in to your safe place, to damage your sanctuary.
In the dream instead of the house being a litteral house, it could represent your body, your state of mind, or any place where you consider sacred and safe.
You can find books of dreams and their symbolic meaning on Amazon.

After an awful nightmare, a friend told me that 3 very concrete things can bring nightmares.
Eating heavy or spicy foods before bed like pizza.(if we eat something with tryptophan like turkey, cheese or bananas, we may sleep better).
What pictures or things we look at before bed. Creepy pictures or scary movies.
And if we are overtired.
Somehow these explanations made me feel a lot better instead of feeling the nightmare was something real.
I'm sure there are ways to insure more pleasant dreams also.
And other explanations for why we have nightmares.

All 3 times I woke gasping for air. I rarely remember my dreams. Now I only barely remember only one of them. I don't eat much before bed, so I just don't get it.
I work at home, sometimes while I'm working I hear weird sounds. I think it's the ice maker.
DH said make sure doors are locked and windows have the safety locks on them, I'll be fine. His Mom & Grandmom were into Tarot cards & tea leaves.....he hates all that stuff.
The new books on Amazon aren't due for release yet. We'll see how a feel down the road.
