Re: Your oldest gift/present

Wow- I had to think long & hard on this one. Still not sure if this is the oldest but I have a charm bracelet that’s about 40 years old. I got the bracelet & a couple charms & then got new charms added over the years.

@Allegheny They are your treasures maybe you can pass on to nieces and nephews or other siblings. Great thread. I'm sure I have other things too.

I have a lovely gold linked bracelet my now 48 year old son gave me for Christmas when he was 19. He was working full time at Mervyn's and was so happy to give it to me. He said with a big grin "Mom, it's real gold!". I still treasure it.

I was about six years old and my father was working in the garden. He found a ring with a red stone. He said take it . You can have it. Ran into the house and washed it. It was from a Cracker Jax box. I still have it. Of course I treasure it. Sometimes it is the smallest things that mean soo much.

Re: Your oldest gift/present

60+ years ago my beloved dad took me downtown to sit on Santa's lap for the 1st time. I completely believed in Santa, and I remember he let me pull his beard to prove he was indeed, the 'real' Santa, and not an imposter.

I asked him for a robot, and on Christmas morning I unwrapped a robot!
It still works. When wound up he turns his head from side to side and walks. I keep it on the table next to my bed where I see it daily. To me, that toy means innocent faith and hope, and belief in wishes coming true.

Re: Your oldest gift/present

When I was born my Grandmother gave me a Smoky the Bear (nicknamed Nokie) and I still have him 53 years later.  His fur is all rubbed off, his ears are missing, where he wore his badge there is a pin size hole, but I love that bear, when no one is around and I need a hug, Nokie is my go to best hugger, he and I have been through so much together,  I lost my grandmother when I was 4 years old, so it is the only thing I have that she had given me besides the memories, so when I hug Nokie, I feel my grandmother hugging me back!

I have beads from my paternal grandmother.  I must have been about ten when I got them.

When we got married 54 yrs. ago my aunt and uncle gave us a big mixer with 2 glass bowls.  The mixer is long gone but I still use the bowls regularly. Considering how much we moved that's amazing!
