Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

I didn't have any summer plans so that remains the same.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

I just had to cancel our trip to Irleand early next month.  We will reschedule as soon as it's safe to do so, but have no idea yet when that will be.  😕

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

Just to share meetups is a national website so I'm sure it is all over the USA.

This situation has affected me in that I have pre conditions so until a vaccine is discovered I have to be careful.

I watched a doctor that was explaining, even when areas open up....people have to make individual decisions not based on the media, not based on their  governer, not based on the white house but based on THEIR MEDICAL SITUATION.  The "numbers" may drop in your city but they won't go down to zero so even when things open...a person with "conditions" should still be careful.

I will have to be careful for a long time possibly a year.  I live right outside washington dc and I don't have to tell you the numbers here.  Even when others stop wearing masks; my husband and I will have to still use WISDOM for us.

Even if the meet up groups were not cancelling events I probably could not go.  Who can sit in a restuaruant with a mask.  Also I have tickets to a few shows in Late july and it is at MGM (the casino) and I know i will have to wear a mask if the show is even held.

This has changed my life and I am just so thankful that I have traveled and went on a lot of cruises cause things will never be the same for "ME"!!!

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

We had planned day trips with our two grandchildren.  they also usually stay with us during the summer while going to a local day camp, and I would say there will be no camp this summer in CT.

We were looking forward to some time in Boston, Cape Cod, and maybe Newport.

We were planning to go to Italy in September.  No way now.

Despite everything, these are minor disappointments.  Everyone in our family is healthy, we old-timers are doing well, and we are living in a home we love.  We are truly blessed.  And right before this pandemic, we adopted Winston from a shelter.  He is an adorable kitty and makes us laugh so much.

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

My DH and I were planning to go to Louisiana for two weeks, leaving this Wednesday.  We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on March 14th very quietly since that is the date that we started to self quarantine ourselves.  Thank goodness we had a fun two weeks in NM & OK last September.  Those were the 2 out of 3 states that we hadn't been to.  Louisiana was going to be 50 states in 50 years.  We are just happy to be healthy.  Luckily, we celebrated  with our dd and her family & my bf from HS and her DH on March 7.  No big plans to go anywhere right now.

@Happiness Is Inside JOB, I am hoping someone will go forward with at least one of your groups. Could you start a group if they do not?

We do not have any plans.

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

Was supposed to go to either NYC or Minneapolis for a big birthday trip this month so hopefully we can get that rescheduled and travel again.  It's been too long since I packed a suitcase.

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

I was supposed to go on an extended family trip to Spain in June.  Of course it's canceled.  So we will spend more time in the backyard.  DH has decided to make an 8x8 vegetable garden and I'll help.

I'm really hoping that we'll be able to take a drive to the beach once a week in the afternoons like we've done previous years.  I'm about an hour from the Jersey shore so who knows if they will be open?

We were also thinking (before all of this) of going to the Poconos for a few days in Sept.,and staying in a lakefront cabin but again who knows how things will be at this point.

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

@Happiness Is Inside JOB ...that sounds like fun...I don't have any family close by and honestly we are not close anyway, and several close friends have retired and moved away....new friendships would be nice.

What you describe sounds like something I would enjoy.

DH and did have a few plans for summer...we like out door events, antique flea markets, artisan shows...all have been cancelled for the first few months of this summer.  Some things can be rescheduled but most of those events drew a lot of people, so we will see if anything gets rescheduled.

Re: Your Summer Plans....New Plans

@Happiness Is Inside JOB

I was in the planning stage for three long weekends away. All have been canceled.

My new summer plans are to continue working full time from home & take my vacation time as late as possible in the year, a few days at a time. I will stay home for these. No plans to do anything or go anywhere.
