I have lived here my whole life and sometimes don't appreciate how fabulous it is during the holidays. I have spent many holidays traveling for work and been lucky to have seen how Paris and Berlin do it, but NY is the best! I reall hate the crowds and have to make myself stop sometimes and just enjoy it.
When I was going home tonight it was nuts, even in the rain!

Guess I missed it, will the show be on TV again (or is there another way I can view it)? I'm 65 and from the mid west, a couple of my (adult) kids took me to NY last summer. We just happend to be there for Fleet Week, and Rockefeller Center was all decked out in American Flags. It was just beautiful and I can only imagine how fabuluous it is at Christmas.

I grew up on Long Island and always loved going into NYC during the holidays. When I was young my grandparents would take us to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Show and to see the Rockettes. We always had lots of fun. My siblings and I have great memories of these days. Also great memories are from the `64 Worlds Fair. I was very young but felt so lucky to have that so close to home.Of course the beaches on LI are the best. Never realized how lucky we were to live so close to so many beaches until at 38 years old we moved to Central PA. Ice Skating at Rockefellers Center is wonderful too. Thank you for this thread. It has given me a chance to reflect on my life in NY. It brought back many good memories.

DH & I are going into NYC after Christmas weekend to see a show and see the decorations.
It has been quite a few years since we were there at Christmas time. I remember Macy's windows.
Can someone tell me where the best Christmas sights are now?
We usually spent "down-time" shopping. Not this trip... we just took 12 bags of clothes to donate and I have no desire to fill the closets again any time soon!
We want to fill our time seeing things. Been to almost all the museums, SS Seaport, Empire St., etc. Never been inside Rockefeller Center though, which I plan to see this time... thanks for the reminder!!

This tree is magnificent, it is the second tallest tree in the history of this event. I cannot wait to see it in person. I love NYC all year but especially during the holiday season. It does get crazy navigating the crowds but it's part of the fun.

Like every year, the tree is breathtaking. It brought me to tears as it touches on so many memories and emotions🎄

It's funny how experiences differ. I live in NYC and have to go into Manhattan tomorrow for a doctors appointment. I made the first one in the morning and am strategizing how to get there and back in the shortest amount of time to avoid the crowds. We are going to a Bway show and dinner with the whole extended family for Hannukah and that will be more than enough crowds and craziness for me.
