it’s available here where i live, and the few times i called for an uber, they specified that they would send a robotaxi but i opted out of it. there are so many complaints about those either going the wrong way or going against traffic

Absolutely have and would again! One son lives in SF and says as a runner he trusts Waymo over people any day of the week. They are not distracted by thier phones etc. We rode it several times in SF, only downfall is that it is slightly more expensive than uber but we felt super safe. And if pedestrians are safer, that is a win in my book.
