Oh my gosh! I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE THIS IS BY MARY PIPHER!

She is one of my favorite authors and her book “Reviving Ophelia” was a primary for helping prepare me for my teaching position for teen-age girls (cutting, buliemia)

This author spoke to me then, I hope she will speak to me now!

I have awakened every day (practically) with something new to contend with! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Health/body changes/bra sizing/skin/hair/clothing/shoes....and so on!

Maybe this book will help!💗💗💗💗

@house_cat

Thank you for the book recommendation (and @butterfly123 for the synopsis). This sounds like one I will enjoy reading. Honest, yet uplifting, as we row, row, row our boats.. 😊

This is pretty much exactly what my SIL said when I told her about the book.  I don't have daughters, but she does and she loved "Reviving Ophelia".

..I have not read the book, (maybe I need to) and maybe it's just me as I KNOW that I am not a deep thinker...never have been....if something comes up, I deal with it and move on....I don't look to far past today...and I TRY not to dwell on the past.

I am also aging, I will be 64 this year and when other women post on this topic or specifically the title of the book you posted, it makes me wonder am I just a superficial person and do not 'care' about what tomorrow brings?  This is a honest question and would love any feedback, thanks!

I wish I were more like you!  I have to often remind myself to not dwell on the past or worry about the future.

People were saying to me that the issues we used to attribute to teen GIRLS are now ever more important to boys, too....anorexia, sexual identity and so on.

I did have students with dire issues and some were boys.

@Mom2Dogs

I wish I were more like you! Be glad that the issues that get some “down” (like me) do not impact your life.

Mine hit pretty much all at once. “Things” were not rolling along “as usual.” lol

But, I don’t think it makes me sad or depressed...I just don’t like for it to be such a surprise.  If there is any preparation for issues that lie ahead, I’m all in!

You're right. It was very backward of me to phrase it that way.  We rarely separate our boys and girls for any reasons at school.  There is a great deal of ambiguity. We have many students who identify as "gender neutral" and I've had more than a handful the last few years who have changed their names and switched genders.  It's time to look at teen issues with new eyes.

WOW @Mom2Dogs, I really wish I had more of your mindset.

You are probably a very relaxed person.

Can you bottle some of it and send it my way please ???????????????
