I always remember a line from a favorite movie: Live life the way it was intended to be lived -- one day at a time.

@Still keeper of the koi Great attitude - reminds me of a sign in my doctor's examining room: Instead of sitting around waiting for the storm to pass, why not learn to dance in the rain.
Thanks for the uplift.

There is a lot to think about in what you said. I was watching the show Fixer Upper yesterday, and Joanna put up decorative words saying it was a good day to make it a good day. We can find many positive things if we just look.

Actively practicing gratitude for what is here and now can have incredibly powerful positive effects. Being mindful of blessings, beauty, and simple gifts, no matter how small, in a systematic way significantly and measurably increases our feelings of optimism.
This isn't just speculation, by the way. Brain imaging studies show that listing 3 things we're grateful for, every day for 21 days, measurably "rewires" our brain and generates positive feelings both short-term and long-term. It "stimulates the hypothalamus (a key part of the brain that regulates stress) and the ventral tegmental area (part of our “reward circuitry” that produces the sensation of pleasure)."
It takes determination and diligence, but the rewards are bountiful and real. Thank you for this lovely, joyful thread, @Still keeper of the koi. "May blessings fall like blossoms all around you." ~Rumi❤️

There's scientific research out there re: Healing due to positive thinking while recovering from illnesses, etc.. A book that comes to my mind: 'Miracle Mindset' which was featured on one of the doctor shows. Could have been on Dr. Oz Show. I'll have to check out my notes later on. I have lots of notes from 'here and there', so I'll be back later. EDITED: The book is Miracle Mindset by J.J. Virgin. Dr. Oz Show; Episode aired July 11, 2017. (This date could have been a repeat airing.)

I have done this....recently I have been taking note and turning it around.
For me just seeing little bunnies out in my yard or on a walk lights up my day! I look for them everyday...the birds that's another one. I never used to notice their voices...for several yrs now if I am outside it's the 1st thing I do notice LOL! the sound of joy/morning...life...another day...the sun is out...
I enjoyed reading your post....I have been guilty of wishing my life away as you put it...I didn't enjoy the moment...the day...the time when (fill in blank) I was just wanting to rush thur it...get it over.

@Still keeper of the koi I am so guilty of that but never realized it until you posted.Thank you very much for helping me discover a new way to look at my life.I have always admired you for your positive outlook and the way you see the beauty in small things but never thought deeply enough about it to realize that I could change my way of living too.You are very special and it is no wonder that you are do loved.

I shared the following several years ago. It seems appropriate to re-post it here and now.
Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that
There’s something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last.
And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be obtained
Only if one’s surroundings are good
It’s not true that good exists
I’m sure you can agree that
The reality
Creates
My attitude
It’s all beyond my control
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that
Today was a good day
Now read from bottom to top.

"May God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change. The courage to change the things I can.And the wisdom to know the difference."
When I was 19 years old I was having a difficult time dealing with a certain situation. My friend's mom sent me The Serenity Prayer on a lovely card. It made all the difference!! I've been living by it ever since. 💐
Thank you @Still keeper of the koi .You're a wise woman Maryann!!
