Re: Wishing our lives away....

@Still keeper of the koi  I think you're on to something for certain!

There is is a type of meditation called 'Mindfulness'.  I've been practicing only for a few months, and it has helped my sleeping.

The idea of awareness and gratitude is pretty much the basis, both are discussed practiced often.

Re: Wishing our lives away....

I used to wish my life away when I was young, always planning, hoping and wishing. Some of the things I wanted to happen did and some didn't and it's all good. Now that I'm getting upside down on age, time goes so quickly I'm just happy to take things as they come.

Re: Wishing our lives away....

I found this poem years ago....

I was dying

First I was dying to finish high school and start college

And then I was dying to finish college and start working

And then I was dying to marry and have children

And then I was dying for my children to grow old enough for school so I could return to work

And then I was dying to retire

And now, I am dying.... and suddenly I realize I forgot to live.
