My grandkids wont ever know how to sign their names officially, so sad.

It is a great motor skill, and a good brain exercise for kids to see historical documents and original manuscripts. Useful in many ways. Might help them actually read something.
It is also important because it is difficult to type and pay attention in a meeting or lecture. It is easier to jot down a note. Also, paper can be disposed of and documents online can't really.
Anyone who gets out of school and can't read the original USA documents that formed this Union isn't educated. And that isn't the kid's fault. Schools put education down the list now.

I used to have very good handwriting, but now in my 70's I have enough stiffness in my hands that it has made my writing less flowing. Using a good pen helps. I think children should learn cursive, partly for the discipline it takes. I don't think they are asked to learn many things anymore that take discipline and practice.

I still write in cursive for many things, but I think that it's no longer important, valuable or crucial or necessary.
Sure, it's fun to learn. But no longer a vital skill in 2025 and beyond.
I have approved many important documents and transactions online via an electronic signature.
You can purchase a car and house online without ever needing to sign anything in cursive.

@Shelbelle A signature, whether written in print or cursive, is still an "official" signature.

Research shows better retention of information when note taking in class is done by cursive writing as opposed to typing on a device.

I'm just wondering.........Is it possible to talk into various computers/phones/gadgets and the gadget will write it out in cursive handwriting?
If so, a person can print it out and send it.
Well, If not yet available, it's my brilliant idea, just in case!

12 years of Catholic school here, the nuns REALLY taught us how
to write in perfect cursive. 😂
