Re: Who remembers Colleen Corby — one of 1st supermodels?

I remember spending afternoons sitting on my bed, under the hair dryer, reading Seventeen magazines! So Colleen Corby was my first wanna-be model (I am blonde, but still...)

cannot remember at what point Twiggy came along, but she heralded “The Carnaby Look.”  Oh, my!

That's telling, @LTT1, "under the hair dryer."  We all had those "bonnet" things attached to the dryer to put over our rollers.

I remember one day taking it off and just drying my loose hair with the hose part.  Looking back, I think maybe I invented the first blow dryer!  Woman LOL

Think she looks a lot like Susan Dey (sp?) - Partridge Family.

Re: Who remembers Colleen Corby — one of 1st supermodels?

Wow what a great memory on this snowy day so many years later. We had mentioned Colleen Corby a while back - She was my favorite too at the time, as I was in 8th grade, she was so wholesome looking and the clothes were so pretty. Seventeen Magazine was HUGE - the August issue was the 10 top college girls from respective universities. I believe Colleen is retired and lives in Florida now.

Someone mentioned the quality of the clothes - well back then the really nice clothes, were made in the USA by the ILGWU, so they cost a bit more and lasted longer. And I wore a school uniform from grades 4 to 12, so loved when that Seventeen arrived in the mail........Those of you on social media and liked Colleen Corby might want to give her a shout out from her fans from the 60's

Oh wow, I not only remember her, I think that I wanted to be her lol!   I had a subscription to Seventeen and pored over every page.  Such good memories!!  (And I dutifully used Bonne Bell Ten o Six lotion every night) .

My other favorite (maybe a few years later?) was Jean Shrimpton.

@LTT1Thanks for reminding me of such a sweet time in my life.

@GingerPeachHa, ha, I did the same thing.  And here I've been thinking that I invented the idea of blow drying!

I do! I remember seeing her, Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tieg and Beverly Johnson in fashion magazines like Glamour and Seventeen when I was a teenager.

I remember Colleen Corby well,   She was on so many Seventeen magazine covers!

I remember this one in particular.  I was someone who wore my hair like that, too.

(I just realized the magazine was 50 cents!)

@GingerPeach

I remember this cover. I slept on brush rollers every night just so my hair would look like this.

Janet Margolin was Lisa in David and Lisa.  She was married to the actor who played Blossom's father.  Sadly she died young.
