@ThinkingOutLoud - Someone who had an emergency more likely would've just left the things in the cart and exited the store. I doubt that person would put things on a shelf they didn't belong on. Why?
And I don't think criticizing people who do this is harsh or deserves retribution. ("What goes around, comes around.")
I think we all see this now; empty drink cups left on shelves, opened packets of things like cookies, food on a shelf where it doesn't belong because someone couldn't be bothered to walk a few extra steps to put it back. The same with carts not put into a corral. I've seen more than one person do that, when the corral was literally no more than 10 feet away.
If we all accept this type of lazy, disrespectful behavior, we will never improve as a society. (Possibly won't anyway, but I refuse to excuse it in the meantime.)

Try as some might, there are no excuses for the inconsiderate, disgusting behaviors of far too many. It's becoming a social epidemic. I see these behaviors all the time at my grocery store.
No emergency would have me leave perishable grocery items on a shelf. I'd hand them to someone on my way out. I've seen very expensive meat items left on shelves. That's likely a message of some kind.
I've seen everything, including people testing items, or opening them up to stick their nose in to smell, then placing back on the shelf. I've purchased items in a rush only to find seals broken when I get them home.
And there are also no excuses for parents allowing their children to roam the stores without supervision. It's not safe for them and others.
I once saw a young teen who was spraying cans of whipped cream on store shelves and items, like he was having a creative artist moment. Maybe he was high on something, or maybe just being a whipped cream villain. So, there are inconsiderate, destructive people, but also possibly impaired.
Frankly, I'm increasingly disappointed with the human species. We are, in fact, animals just higher on the food chain. We just don't need to act like it.
What's happening is not a good prognosis for our future, if these behaviors continue to escalate. I know it's getting worse, when I now dread leaving home for shopping and errands that I once enjoyed.
There's always a risk factor to consider when going out these days. And, it's all the making of humans' socially devolving values, with disregard for others. Sad times ahead, if something doesn't change the momentum of this decline.

My concern is more about people who take frozen entrees and leave them on a shelf to thaw, then somebody returns it to the freezer case. My sister recently got food poisoning from a frozen dinner and we suspect that's what happened.

Children open packages and change price shelf tags. Seldom abandon ice cream and salad.

On the cracker aisle, someone left a box of ice cream bars and a cold deli salad on the shelf next to the triscuits.....WHO DOES THAT? A lazy A** that's who.
The same person who leaves their shopping cart in the parking spot instead of where the carts go...the same person who litters ....a rude, inconsiderate and selfish person who thinks about no one or anything other than them self.
I gave the two items to a store clerk( not sure if they were still any good or how long they had been sitting there)
I would love to give these Jerks who do things like this, a piece of my mind😡
They are everywhere unfortunately ![]()
It amazes me that people have to act like that.

A few years ago a man at the gym proudly informed a group of us that he had done his part to 'save civilization'. He saw a man at Costco leave his cart on the sidewalk rather than put it away. When confronted, the man said he didn't have time to put it away since he didn't want to be late for a doctor's appointment.
So ... in the name of 'civilization' the guy at the gym pulled back his jacket to show the hurried man his gun, and told him to 'make time' and followed him to the cart area.

@juanitalinda I guess he thought he was the "cart police". Just goes to show best not confront or be confronted by anyone these days.

If it really is an emergency, probably not. And what I want to know is, how can some people have enough time to fixate and really get boiling about eomrhing like this? I have plenty of problems and none of them are as petty as shopping carts on the loose.

@GoneButNotForgotten Yes, I agree, if it is a really serious emergency then it's understandable. I think when people get mad... it would be if they took something home....ate it.... and became ill. I can see not being too happy if that were the case.
