Both my grandmothers were mean people who did not like children. Luckily, they lived far away and we didn't visit often. When we did visit, it wasn't pleasant.
Glad for those who had warm, loving experiences!

@LonestarBabs I found your post interesting. My grandmother wasn't mean but she obviously favored my older brother (as did my mom). Boys were deemed more important than girls back then by my mom & grandmas. Really ticked me off.

I found your post very interesting. Years ago, boys were favored because they would carry on the family name.
There is a book on women and daughters having bad relationships about the "Cinderella Complex".
You would probably find it very interesting from the standpoint of being a woman as well as your relationship.
