I've insisted on a closed casket.  I don't want people looking at me like they're picking out a steak at the meat counter.

The last thing I care about is how I look when I'm dead. My husband and I have decided on cremation. So no need to have an undertaker make me up to look like someone that I am not. I try not to dwell on things like this.

Interestingly enough they did exactly that to my husband before cremation.

I lost a family member last year who unexpectedly died of a heart attack at 53. She was a well loved educator, with a large family, with too many friends and colleagues to count. A beautiful person, inside and out.

She frequently entertained in her home. She always had book clubs going and her special sister days, for all her gal pals. She went the extra mile.

She was cremated and there was no service when she passed. It was decided there would be a remembrance celebration on the first anniversary of her death.

After a year passing, hardly anyone showed up for the celebration of her life, except for immediate family. She was considered gone and forgotten. That's the nature of life --- and death. People move on.

When I pass, I want no funeral, no announcements, nothing. I'm convinced many attend funerals just to be nosey. My executor, a good friend, is free to throw my ashes in the trash, if she wants. It won't be me anymore, anyway.

So, do I care if I have my hair done and makeup on when I die? No, I'm not planning on dressing up for the event, even if I have advanced notice...LOL.

I saw a video last night about a couple of daughters of a woman who died.  She was cremated, then the ashes were made into diamonds.  One girl said she was going to wear hers as a necklace.

As it stands right now, neither of us wants a funeral.  We need to get busy making sure those wishes happen.

At that point, who cares?

This reminds me of that John Candy movie "Only the Lonely" in which his girlfriend (fiance) was a makeup artist for a funeral director. She tried to make the deceased look like movie stars. Hilarious!
