What we leave behind...

[ Edited ]

I felt the need this Friday to share my observations these last weeks since my beautiful mil passed away.

She shared her heart without reserve, love was given freely and without a 2nd thought, she knew the more you give the more you receive. Our family was touched deeply by the hundreds of people who shared with us how she touched lives ,changed lives, brought people comfort,  going  on when it seemed like a lost cause. We were not surprised when after requesting  no more flowers,  her favorite food banks let us know they received thousands of dollars  in donation form and many people requested to help with the holiday preparations for their gift giving and meal serving. It occurred to me no one mentioned her big beautiful home, her being impeccably dressed. They could never see anything beyond her big loving heart. She didn't brag, boast about her work.We learned a lot about her  from the stories people felt they must share. So in leaving ,she isn't really gone, she has taught many lessons simply by living and loving.Perhaps the big gift we leave is kindness and love, not the things we think will give remembrance.I have felt such peace  these past weeks, knowing  she is in my heart. It has made me think ,how will I leave the world with love?  A good place to start....Happy holiday preparations, sending you  peace ,love ,and hugs...MaryAnne

@Still keeper of the koi  Very well said.  Think what a wonderful world this would be if everyone was like your MIL.  Heart

What I feel is just as beautiful is how you honor this gem of a person. That too, is a gift and heart warmer (to me). Not everyone gets appreciated on earth or after death, so it's really wonderful to experience your example. Thanks for sharing❤️

Your MIL has truly left a legacy of loving and kindness.  What a perfect way to leave this earth.

@Still keeper of the koi  What a wonderful post about your MIL.  If all of us were so lucky to have someone like her in our life.  She will live on through her friends and family, that is certainly a tribute to how she lived her life that so many people would reach out to help others in her honor.
