You know, my kitchen is so small--8'x7'--that ANYTHING I cook or make ends up looking like a tornado went thru it. It's hard for more than 1 person in it at a time----hate it!!!!!

Got a pan of grease (shallow thank goodness) of grease on fire. Column of flames to the ceiling. Nobody home but me and the cat.
Fire was between me and something to put the tire out. Put pan of flames in the sink, yanked curtains off above the sink, put fire out.
Why didn't I call the fire dept? Where I lived didn't have access to one that could get there before the house was burnt to the ground. Was about 14 years old at the time. Cat stood by the back door as the house filled with smoke ready to save his sorry behind!!!!!![]()

I was about 11 or 12 and my grandfather was in the hospital and my mother went to visit him. My neighbor came over to help make pumpkin pie as it was a couple of days before Christmas. Anyhow, was mixing the pumpkin mixture with a electric hand mixer and pulled it out of the mixture while it was still turned on. Pumpkin splattered all over.

I totally forgot I had eggs on the stove I was trying to hardboil - until I heard a something in the kitchen. The water was gone and the eggs were literally blowing up - I had egg stuff everywhere (ceiling, floor, oven hood - you name it). It took a long time to clean up and I had to throw the pan out because I couldn't get the burned mess off the bottom. I have learned to set a timer now!

The lady across the hall set of a sprinkler in her kitchen. The water flowed across the hall and to my kitchen. I had over an inch of water on the floor and the carpet at the end was wet.
Moping up was bad enough. It took a week for carpet to dry.

Years ago, we were hosting Thanksgiving in our home. I was heating up a glass bowl of giblet gravy in the microwave....I forgot to tilt the lid & the bowl broke in two pieces....what a mess!!!

It was my son's and DIL kitchen. Because my son has to prepare their meals, I help out by cooking when I visit. THE last time I was there while making dinner I peeled a bunch of potatoes and carrots and tossed the peels down the dispose-all. of course I ran the disposer along the way.
But after I loaded up and ran the dishwasher, the water backed up the sink and overflowed all over the floor! and cabinets!
My son discovered this as I was already upstairs. I heard shouting and ran down to see what was up. what a mess this made! the sinks were grungy and we had to bail out the water yuk!
Next morning the maintenance guy came out right away and fished the mess out of the plumbing - he had to get under the sink and remove the disposer, cleaned it . mopped up the floor!
was a combination of peels and the fact that my son threw eggshells down the disposer every day - the egg in there had also gunked up the grinder. Maintenance man said no more eggshells!
At least they all had enjoyed the meal I made. next day my son picked up pizza!
