I dont know what 12-13 in January means but if he is going into his teens thats one reason, and it could be he meets friends there. He is your grandson, not your child so its up to mom to see he eats healthy or not. Also, if you texted mom at work that was not the best time, so no wonder she did not elaborate.
While I agree that he should eat healthy and I think when he is at your house he eats what you fix and not given money to eat fast food, or he can go hungry the choice is his. If he has money then let him go you cant force him to eat what he does not want to.
