My mom is dying.  We brought her home from Hospice to die.  She and Dad have been married 64.5 years and couldn't stand to be apart.  Being in Hospice was too difficult emotionally for both of them. They just can't handle being apart.  Hospice comes into the house a couple of times a day.  There are 7 of us kids so we also help.  

I am feeling a lot of emotions as are my siblings and all our families.  It'srough to watch a woman who was always so vibrant and strong change so drastically.  

My heart is breaking.

@chrystaltree That sounds like a special time to me.I remember when you talked of the babies birth and everyone was trying to spend time visiting the baby.I thought that you would enjoy every bonding moment and opportunity to give your daughter a break.I don't have any grandchildren yet so I envy your weekend.

@kivah  Have you considered visiting your local senior center?  You might enjoy card games or other activities going on there.

@house_cat  What a thoughtful thread this has been.  Thank you for starting it.  Reading all of the responses has brought tears to my eyes.  Challenges come in many forms and I was touched reading them all.  God bless everyone who took the time to share just a little bit of their lives and all those who have read.  It takes bravery and courage to open up to others and I am inspired by you all.  I don't want to reply to a few and not others so I am sending prayers for everyone.  

I was born with a disease that has caused benign cysts on my internal organs...mainly my lungs and kidneys.  I have lost significant function in both.  Now, my adrenal gland has a massive tumor on it.  I go in two weeks to find out what the urologist wants to do about it.  Although these cysts are benign, blood continues to flow to them and they impede the functions of the organs effected.
