@Love my grandkids  I'm sorry that you experienced that. It is sad that you and a few others here had mothers who were less than nurturing.

It is commendable that you turned that into a positive by learning from her behavior, how not to be.

How wonderful that you have a loving son and he learned that from you.

@Enufstuff Thank you for your kind words. When she died, only my son was sad as she was a very good grandma to him. Sigh. But I am truly blessed with my wonderful son!

@frenchie @kaydee50 I'm so sorry that you are also part of the

group here, that did not have the kind of mother that one would wish for.

Hopefully, you are good to yourself and have loving people

around you.

Re: What 3 Things Do You Remember About Your Mother?

My mother loved cats

She loved to bake and made the best Lemon Merinque pies,

cakes and cookies.

She loved Christmas all the preparations and being with family

Aside from that, she was long suffering and too quiet. She put up

with verbal and emotional abuse from my overbearing father.

I believe that contributed to her death at 63. I left home a young age to get away from him. I wish I could have helped her.

Her absolute love and devotion to my Dad and me.

She was a WAAF in the British Royal Women's Auxillary Air Force during WWII, met my Dad and came to the U.S.

Her talent, in sewing, poetry, writing and cooking.

Re: What 3 Things Do You Remember About Your Mother?

@Solar Is My NameThank you. I hope that I have contibuted

someting positive. I have always tried to be the best that I could be. I try not to be negative and try to be optimistic.

I raised five great kids, who are trustworthy, responsible people

and very good parents. Two of them are pet parents. I have 6 grandchildren and 7 great grand children. The most important thing that I believe that I taught them was to treat others as you would wish to be treated.

Today is Mothers' Day and I saw all 5 of them and we celebrated my birthday too.
