Went down a massive Bee Gees rabbit hole...

[ Edited ]

and just coming up for air now...

@We rescue cats  had started a thread about Bee Gee tunes and ever since I have been listening to my fave 'Love You Inside Out' often ever since.

I never thought about it years ago, but realized that I've never seen the Bee Gees sing this song in concert/live...ever!

The tune came off of their 1979 release of the LP 'Spirits Having Flown'.

I remember back in the disco days, I was getting so tired of hearing the hits of the Saturday Night Fever movie and wished they would have played 'Love You Inside Out' more often.

Even though it did become their 9th big hit, it was during the beginning of the turn down/peak of the Bee Gees/disco height of popularity.

I found out the reason why the tune was never sung at a concert was because of that reason...dahblink.gif

...absolute madness!

I read that in Reddit...

At least I have some closure with that bit of info and finding out other folks are just as upset about this fact and learning about this...NOW!  waaa.gif

So over the past hour or so I have been binge-watching many youtube videos of others (younger generations) 'reactions' listening to this tune for the 1st time and it warms my heart.

The beat/funk, harmony...just everything is off the charts with this so under-rated tune.

Don't get me wrong...love all their tunes, but this particular one stands out from all the rest IMHO.

Anyway, I just had to share this info for anyone interested.

GAWD...

Somebody infuse this tune into my veins...

Excuse me while I go back to dancing around the room... Smiley Very Happy

They had an extensive career.  I was a fan of their music in the 60s and early 70s, pre-Disco era.

Overall, I liked pretty much everything they recorded.

Sounds like the planned biopic has been on the back burner.

I'm surprised there isn't a film.  Their story deserves one.

Wow....I remember waitng all day in the hot sun to see them at Dodger Stadium. It was after the release of Spirits Having Flown....I remember "Tragedy" with fireworks for sure and lots of Saturday Night Fever. Also saw them get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Good Times!

The Bee Gees’ legacy is set to soar on the big screen with a Ridley Scott-directed biopic, and the anticipation is electrifying! Announced in 2019, this long-awaited film, backed by Paramount and producers like Steven Spielberg, will chronicle Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb’s journey from 1960s hits like “To Love Somebody” to disco anthems like “Stayin’ Alive.”

There was a 2020 documentary, 2 hours I think, on HBO and HBO Max:  "Bee Gees:  How Can You Mend a Broken Heart".

@Susan Louise   I've always thought of myself as a huge Bee Gees fan.  I love their music and can think of many, many songs that I know all of the words to and like to sing along with.

But guess what?  I've NEVER heard of this song.  Just gave it a listen on you tube and I didn't recognize it at all!  Somehow, through the years, it just slipped through the cracks for me.

@Susan Louise Had to play it to make sure, but nope did not recognize it-but I like it!! One of the folks wrote on the reviews:  "If you live to be a thousand, heck, a million, you'll never hear better three piece harmony than The Bee Gees."

I think he is correct.
