I knew she passed far too young but didn't realize it was the same thing @SilleeMee.

@Oznell.  Apparently she lives under the watchful eye of an appointed caretaker/guardian who supervises her every move.

@Kachina624   Part of her "care team?"

I did some research.....

Care team - These are highly skilled, dedicated professionals who work in a coordinated way to support and guide your healthcare needs.

  • Primary Care Physician, the individual who oversees all of your healthcare. Your primary care physician is your first visit for any medical concerns you may have, including mental health, post-operative care, preventive care, and routine illness.
  • Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, who are advanced practice providers trained in diagnosis & treatment. They may handle routine treatment and perform physical examinations. These professionals work closely with other primary care providers to oversee your care.
  • Registered Nurses, who administer medications, perform routine tests, and continuously monitor patients.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses, who take on routine care, such as checking blood pressure and helping with daily tasks like bathing and dressing.
  • Specialists, who provide diagnosis and treatment for a specific chronic condition, such as cancer (oncologists) or heart disease (cardiologists).
  • Technologists and Technicians, who do lab work, take x-rays, and perform other tests critical to your care.
  • Physical Therapists, who guide rehabilitation after surgery and other treatment to help you regain mobility and strength.
  • Occupational Therapists, who guide people with techniques to engage in daily activities of life and work.
  • Speech Therapists, who work with people living with speech and language differences.
  • Social Workers, who help people transition back into the community after a hospital stay, and help connect individuals to appropriate support inside and outside of the healthcare system.
  • Behavioral Health Clinicians, such as licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, and nurse practitioners, who help people who are living with challenges to mental health.
  • Patient Care Coordinators, who organize and maintain communications between care providers and act as a point of contact for patients.

All professionals who participate in your healthcare form part of your care team.

Re: Wendy Williams diagnosed..

My SIL currently was diagnosed with aphasia as a result of her stroke about 4 weeks ago. She's in a PT & OT part of the hospital yet, & we're hoping that speech therapy will bring her improvement

My personal opinion is that we, Boomers, should more accurately be called the Chemicalized generation.  We consumed and breathed chemicals/additives at a greater rate than any preceding generation.

Even today the dangers of the early exposures many/most of us experienced are just beginning to be recognized.

It is further my opinion that testing something for safety isn't enough.  Testing should to be done on multiple combined chemicals/additives at one time.  Put 5 together and 2 might play nice but add the 3rd, 4th and 5th and all that safeness goes out the window.

Yes, in food, in the air, toxins in all kinds of things we consume, use, that we didn't know, that we might not have been able to mitigate if we had known. Yes, sadly that's what I believe is true too. We'll be long gone before, and IF, all that affected our health in that way will be figured out. I mean it's so evident the way we are aging vs. my grandparents and parents.

Also, the obesity rate...even when trying to eat well, and do our best if the grains are genetically modified ...things like fruits too...I mean WHY are grapes the size of plums now?! "Franken Fruit"...just not the same food our grandparents ate. We can do our best but we didn't know what we didn't know then, and even when we knew...sometimes hard to get around it, when that's what's mainly available. A whole topic in and of itself.

I guess we would have to give up electronics, too.    Just think of the "waves" coming thru the screen....and the exotic metals and plastics used in the manufactuing process...     OOOOOOO!!!!!!!

That's a very tragic disease. I think Bruce Willis can't talk anymore- And Robin Williams committed suicide after diagnosis.   Very sad.

@Skyegirl21  Robin Williams had Lewy Body Dementia which can sometimes develop with Parkinson's, with which he already had been diagnosed.

One of my closest friends lost her husband and two brothers-in-law to Lewy Body. Three boys from the same family, all gone. They had no other siblings.

We went to two funerals. The youngest, the former baseball coach at the high school, died first. The middle son, who never married, died from it during the pandemic, so there was no service. And then my good friend's husband was diagnosed. He was the oldest. He was our friend too, and we went to see him a lot, until nearly the end.

We also lost two other friends to this. Both were in their 60's. I still miss them, and my friend's husband, so much.

Tommy responded through The Shade Room comment section, claiming that Williams, her ex-husband and son “attended the wake, NOT the funeral.”
