Re: Well, Maybe I Am Getting A Bit Older

@RetRN ---Same here--could pretty much fend on my own myself with the normal routines. I moved my whole 2 story house into storage containers and into a rental during some house re construction , then did the whole thing in reverse a few months later--  Then move out of my house for the final time and into an apartment and more storage units in 2021 at age 67--up and down stairs too.  in 2022, I fell and broke my ankle----and nothing has been the same since--I am fully healed and recovered, but just don't have the juice to do anything like now without help. I still can do my usual stuff, just not as gung ho like before---Woman Embarassed

Re: Well, Maybe I Am Getting A Bit Older

@Desertdi --omg--had to chuckle just a little---being tossed around like a sack of spuds!!! That happened to me--in the hospital after surgery to fix a broken ankle--those young" whipper snappers" were totally AMAZED at me being able to move on my own--with a splint on my right leg--into a potty chair---without the huge white belt wrapped around me to  hang on to me so I wouldn't fall--with the sign that said ELDERLY on my chart. Now I know that is standard and needed---Then when Physical therapy came to help me with pointers on how to use a walker or go up/down  upstairs, with a bum leg------and I showed them my method----well was like I just invented sliced bread---had to laugh at that and still do---I managed just fine------stop man handling me, I ain't dead yet!!!!!!Woman LOL

awww @jubilant

I hear ya, &  I'm there with ya!  Know exactly what'cha mean.

As I continued to age on, it occurred to me that:

    "When young --

My Mind had Veto Power over my Body.

     As I aged --

My Body had Veto Power over my Mind!"

Somewhere, it switched!   This was a total surprise to me!  Woman Frustrated

No matter how vigilantly I continue to argue with my body, and I do continue,  my body seems to always win now!  Woman Frustrated

@JoyFilled Warrior   Right back at ya!

a picture of a red rose with the words big hug for you

I'm from a family of huggers. I know what you mean. I turned 75 not long ago. People thought I looked to be in my 60's till I was about 72. My husband got accused ot "rocking the cradle" and he is only 2 yrs. older. I have to admit...I loved it!

Now I look in the mirror and feel I do look 75 now. My pride is hurt! Ha! I've had to swallow it!  I have a feeling if we all have to go to "an old folks home"

I'll fit right in. We'll all look a lot the same!

Re: Well, Maybe I Am Getting A Bit Older

My doctor recently said to me "Well, it's more difficult for the elderly to reach the normal range." That was the first time anyone called me elderly. Yes, I am elderly but wow, it freaked me out.

Re: Well, Maybe I Am Getting A Bit Older

My brain thinks I'm physically 40. My body is starting to show signs of age... more likely it has for a while but I've been in denial.

I can't do as much at once like I used to. I've fought getting help but finally caved.

I decided to do what I like best and to get some help with other things.

I just started with a cleaning service. It's my first big splurge. Having help inside lets me do more outside.

Mowing, yard work, and walking my dog are my favorite things in the world. I have a huge yard and a lot of trees. I can't do it all at once anymore but I love doing it.

I zone out of all my worries and thoughts and am totally free when working in the yard. My dog runs circles around me which makes me laugh.
